Hi all,

Was just wondering if anyone happens to know about what Missouri Registration and Regulations are/is, for becoming legal to ride outside my farmland?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Missouri regulations are somewhat complicated for our amphibious ATVs. That's because there are so few of our vehicles that they don't care to include them within any laws. Bascially, amphibious vehicles are considered watercraft so you can register your Argo as a boat to use on public lakes. Our amphibs are not ATVs under the law. You'll need boat registration to use your Argo on a public lake with an outboard motor for sure. You will pay sales tax on your vehicle at the license office if you register as a boat. There is another law that says you do NOT need to be registered if your vehicle is "propelled soley by paddles". A state water patrol has told me our vehicles are legal for use on state waterways with no registration because of this law. However, it's still easy to get busted since some officers don't know that law! I also have a paper stating that an amphibious vehicle trasporting eight passengers OR cargo can be driven on a state roadway to reach the water. Again, easy to get busted by officers who know nothing of our vehicles or these laws. Get these papers and carry them with you if you plan to do it often. Private land is the best place to ride our amphibs. That's why I support owners of private land like Rockport that welcome our 6x6s.

What papers are you referring too, that I should get? Could you send me a copy?

Thanks again!

PS. I don't use mine on the lake but to cross small lake arms from time to time. Usually, I'm just running around on open State land around the lake, and have yet to run across a forrest ranger or Army Corp. person.
As far as registering as a boat, my Bigfoot is only about 6' long. Boat registrations start at 10' from what I have heard. Do you know something different about this? + I do not have an outboard mounted let alone bought at this time, as buying a bigfoot put me back quite a bit already.

PSS...What are the requirements if any for our vehicles to run at Deepwater? Do we need helmets, and the orange Diamonds and flags mounted? Or are there no requirements/rules?

I did find out that in order to run on "any" road, the saftey diamond signs and flags + tail-lights are required in MO, but that is all the info I could find so far. Is this true to your understanding?

Thanks again for any/all info you can provide about these questions.

Happy Trails!

No helmets, flags or any other odd requirements at Deepwater. Ride what you bring!

Riding on a public road has the same laws across the board for ATVs. You cannot operate an unlicensed vehicle on a roadway. Farm equipment is the exception so you can always try that route. It always comes down to your local area and how ATVs are accepted. Everyone rides gravel roads around here.
You are probably the guy that called me last week. I did get that used '06 Max IV 27hp in yesterday that we talked about. I'll give you a call this week and we can talk more in detail over these MO laws.

I did a little checking about this when I bought my Conquest last winter. There are some counties, Dent and some others, that will give you an ATV road permit. This gives you some sort of license to ride on public roads. I made a couple calls to the courthouses but didn't get much info. Maybe I could look into this again.
