What advantage does Hydo Traxx have over the ARGO...I know it can have a bigger engine which is nice but what about the hyd vs. chain driven??? I have had an ARGO before...I loved it except it was to small (6x6) and too slow...I live in Western AK and maitenance plays a part. Thanks

Fuzzy,
the hydrotraxx is a very heavy machine which equates to more psi which is your worst enemy in one of these machines. If you are looking for a bigger vehicle an eight from argo has a ton of room, I own one, and to me it is the best all around aatv on the market. the hydro only goes half the speed of an argo or max (17mph).
Maintenence is not a big deal if you keep up on it. a little bit here and their. these are not low maintence machines but to me that is half the fun of owning one. |

Thanks for the info...but what about the hydrostatic vs. the chain driven ARGO...does that have the advantage as far as wear and tear and expense and ease of movement? |

Sorry for the late post but I am new to this board as I have recently stumbled on to it. Argogoro is trying to sell you and compare something he knows nothing about! My 25HP machine goes around 17mph but Hydro Traxx has ATV's that can go up to 25mph. But. Beleive me you do not want anymore speed than maybe 17mph to 20mph in these 6-wheelers. I mean how fast do you want to go and can you go in swampy mud and through the forest. Speed is not a key issue. My friend has an Argo Conquest and we ride together. I always have to pull him through places where I've just been. He like the Hydro Traxx better but for now is stuck with his Argo. |

Is it safe to assume, that you own a 25 hp Hydro-Traxx?
If so,,how long have you owned it,and what terrain have you driven through? ALso,,have you ever compared it to a Max IV 25 HP with 26 inch tires or an Argo Bigfoot with 25 inch tires?
I dont really think an Argo conquest, with its factory 22 inch tires, would be a very good comparrison, to a Hydro-traxx with 28 inch tires and 25 HP motor. |

I have had my machine for almost 4yrs and bought it as a used model for $11,500.00 I have driven it just about on any terrain. The only time I can remember getting stuck was in sand & water (quicksand). I had to winch myself out. BUT I don't think there is a machine out there that can go through quicksand. Maybe possible with tracks but I don't have tracks. My Hydro Traxx has 25" goodyear III's. I have had very good success with my ATV. I just do a little preventive type such as change engine oil. I have not ever seen a MAX IV and can not give any comparison. The only machine I can compare against is with the Argo Conquest and my Hydro Traxx blows it away in all comparison except maybe speed, but speed is no concern to me. Power and lots of torque is my concern. The Hydro Traxx is only about 10" to 12" wider than the Argo. I have no trouble driving through narrow passage and this machine can mow down and part the brush! What do you like about your MAX? How does it rate? |

All,it seems there will always be a never ending battle over who's machine is best. As for me , I use argo's on my job. I like argo's, don't get me wrong.However I own a Hydro- Traxx and there's no comparision between the two. I hate having to do maintenance in the field or at home for that matter. All I have to do to the Hydro is change the oil once in a while, and it comes with a pet-cock and a hose hooked up to the drain line for the engine oil. The hose has a plug in the end of it and reaches out of the body drain hole in the back. Turn the nob, replace the spin-on filter.Is that easy enough?
As far as the weight , the hydro weighs 1200 lbs. and is a foot wider and a little longer than the argo.I have the low-end wheel motors which slows me down to 14 mph, which is fast enough for the mud bogs and steep grades. My hydro will pack 4500 lbs and float 1000 lbs.Like I said , I run argo's year around and enjoy playing with them, but since I'm lazy , I still would never buy another argo, or trackster again.By the time I loaded up the Hydro with 4500 lb wench and cage, and out-board bracket etc. it actually was not much if any more expensive than an argo.It can spin circles on a 45 degree grade. It is ten feet long and 6 feet wide which is very stable on bad ground.
All 6-8 wheel atv's are fun to play with and I enjoy all of them.All have their good points and not too good points, but Since I started running atv's in my first trackster in 1970, I have never had one that I believe will out perform the Hydro.
Very few have ever been back to the shop for anything.That is what I like when I'm 30 miles back in a mud-bog with a moose in the back.

Hydrotraxx change web address to www.hydrotraxx.net. Works for me. Don't have experience comparing my HT with other 6x6 etc. But no problems, minimal maintainance and TORQUE keep me happy. I have the nisson 42 HP 27" tires, 4500lb winch, Added hi performance valves to the hydraulic pump to take advantage of the extra power. |

Within 3 minutes of operating my Hydro Traxx for the first time I stuck it and stuck good in a wet drainage, cattails and all. They ALL get stuck, period. bullwinkle |

Its a shame I thought the hoot machine looked like a good idea, I think it needed to be a bit cheaper and have better exposure, I never saw one, but I like the idea of a small machine that would load easy into a truck. But I think it needed to be able to carry something Jack

Just a note--- the Coot2 is still alive. They are getting ready to ship some to Texas. I know they have added Canary yellow to the already red, green and camo versions. |
