I test drove the Argo Frontier 6x6! That thing is absolutely awesome, I'm hooked! And I can get what I want for around $12,400.00, about 3k less than the 8x8.
Got a question though. I see folks complaining about the Rawhide III in the 25x11.5-9 tire. I'd rather not go with the Argo tires, and go with the Rawhides, but I am thinking about the 25X12-9 that the Bigfoot uses. Noone seems to have anyting bad to say about those. Any ideas? |

I researched a fair amount into Argo recently.They are a great machine.In the six-wheeler the 23 hp. Frontier is the only choice.(std equipment as well as more power).In their eight-wheeler its the Avenger hands down. The 25 inch Rawhide III are touted as being the best and maybe but.....they won't ride as good as the 24 inch "Runamoks",nor will they swim as well and tracks will fit over the Runamoks without needing an extra set of wheels for the tracks.(I may get "corrected" on the tracks over the 24" tires,maybe they have to be 22") |

The rawhide tires can come off or break the bead. It is not as much a problem with the tire as it is with the Argo wheel. |

I think that everytime I went on a ride with someone running a BF at least one tire lost a bead. |

The Bigfoot had a real problem with loosing the bead, but ODG changed the rim so that problem is all but eliminated.
The Frontier is an excellent choice. Probably the best machine our little market has ever seen. Go with the 24" Argo tires that come with it. They are just awesome in all terrains, ride great, and swim like a Rawhide can only dream of. |

Thanks, I think that when my time comes I will simply take it with the stock tires, and find a set of aftermarket 9' rims and buy a set of 6 25X12-9 Rawhide IIIs. The 24' is good w/ tracks from my understanding, and during the summer when I am mostly in the lake then I'll use them. But I'd as soon have the 25s around handy for the times like medium snow, timber hopping, and general rocky stuff.
I know where I can get a set of the 25s that are 95% new for around $330.00 (a freind), and the rims I'll have to talk to you about.
BTW, I am still going to be in the market for a good, used 16hp Max II for my son. |
