I need to remove my Amphicat's gas tank to clean it.
It looks like unbolting the straps, bending them back should let the tank drop down at the back. I unbolted the straps but it won't budge. It appears to me that it could not drop down at the front as the nose of the tank lays on the ledge formed by the headlight buckets. I hesitate to drill out the pop rivets from the body. Anyone know how to remove it?

grit your teeth and pull!
it is a snug fitt but as long as the body isent cold it will flex enoph to let you pull out the tank.

Hey Dave - as long as you are on gas tanks--------- i changed engine/carbs. now have one that has a tilly carb with a fuel return to the plastic fuel tank. What is the best and most efficient way to get a fitting into the plastic fuel tank?

thanks

steve

hi steve, theres a nice metal fitting that can be used as a pick up or retern in any type tank,
you drill a 1/2" hole in the apropreat place in your tank and place a neoprean gromet in the hole,
then the metal plug with a nipple on each end wich can have a lenth of plastic tubeing and a pickup wheight added to it as well as the outside plastic line gets pushed and twisted into the gromet.
it is perfictly sealed!
i have used them twice and with great results!
once on an amphicat tank that had constant trouble with the little valve on the bottom getting cloged up.
the weight on the plastic pickup tube helps keep it in the gas when your not on leavel ground.
these things are catelog items and usualy available at your local small engine or power equipment shop. and snowmobile dealers too!
i also like to use the little plastic in line shutoffs and automotive inline fule filters.
good to here from you steve

Dave - I had not thought of that fix. I guess I can talk to a local small engine shop and see if they can come up with one of those thingies.

BTW - the Attex is nearing its rebirth.

thanks

steve
