The 277cc Sachs engine (16 hp) has plenty of power in my Terra Tiger. A transmission with reverse gear wouldn't hurt, though.

I have a JLO 292cc rockwell in my terra tiger. Should be about 18 HP. It produces plenty of speed, however I'm not sure about power yet. Not many hills around here. A 4 cycle would be quieter and have plenty of torque.

I have a Terra Tiger that I was going to restore with a different drive system and was planning to use a forward reverse unit from an old Johnson snowmobile.
You may see my machine and the drive parts I have aquired so far up for sale in the near future at this website. ES

I also have aquired a Terra Tiger. I don't know what type engine it has, I would love to see some pictures of another one's engine so I can start looking for parts for mine. Perhaps I could e-mail some digital pictures of my engine to someone out there that has a Terra Tiger and we could find out if they are the same.

It has a Tillitson carb, lots of Bosch electrical parts and no markings on the engine.

There is a Harley Davidson sticker on the air cleaner and a Harley emblem under the headlight. I think someone might have just stuck them on, who knows, I'm probably the fifth or sixth owner of this project.

Please contact me if you think you can help, in anyway. I would love to get it running again but there is too much guess work.

Thanx!! john E-MAIL ADDRESS: JOHNGOCKE@HOTMAIL.COM

I recently bought a terra tiger and it is in very good condition. I am sure the motor has been switched out because is has a briggs and stratton 11 hp motor in it, I cleaned the carbuerator but that's about all I had to do to it. I am considering fixing it up to be in original condition, but might sell it so someone more "gun hoe" about restoring one.

I have pictures I can e-mail.

Hello. I don't frequent this site often but I am always interested in seeing what others are doing with there Tigers. For those who are looking for ways to have a reverse gear in theirs I cannot offer any easy solutions. I wish I could.

I spent hours studying different approaches to the possibility before settling on the one I built.

First, I have a complete machine shop at my disposal (mine) and designed the fabricated parts using a cad system. Not that it's necessary but I just have it as a nice tool.

Second, the GM gears I used are a set of planetary's out of a turbomatic 350 which had to be modified extensively. Again no easy way. I just didn't want to make those from scratch which would have made it way too much work.

I am however always on the look out for forward and reversing style trannys that could be adapted with much less effort for the usual enthusiast.

It's a shame that Allis Chalmers didn't take the time and effort to put that necessary feature into what is I think a robust machine.

I will be at Copper Ridge again this year for any of you attending. I always like to see other Tigers. There's never enough vintage machines.

Regards. Mark Muranyi (spelled correctly).
