I'm new to the forum, but not to ATV's. I've never owned an AATV and I am trying to weigh the good with the bad on each before I make a purchase of a good used machine. Although I am favoring an Argo Bigfoot 6x6, but I'm still looking.
Is there a rule of thumb about which manufacturer put solid axles in their machines when? Fuzzy |

I'm surprised a 1,000 folks haven't jumped in and told wich machine is better.Sounds like your interest is solid axles,good choice.I bought my max in 99'' solid axles at that time were an option on th 2's and 4's.Usually max 4's with large motors came std. with solid axles or any model with tracks.finding a machine that has a track kit is nice because they have an extra axle bearing on each axle same for argo,but i can't tell your thier configuration of stiffeners if it's all or just the front. |

I would say that if you want something you can do some serious work and hauling with go with the bigfoot. It's amazing how tough Argo built these things. |

Acutally I've had to re-think the whole concept. Considering the fact that my other half is only comfortable with the fact that the intended Argo is for my gold mining operation and is somehow necessary. At least that's what I convinced her of... but under plea bargining, I am allowed one amphib...that doesn't mean one Bigfoot and one 8 wheeler. So I have to pick "one" of the amphibs that will serve my purposes best. I'm leaning more towards the Conquest or an Avenger...costs permitting of course. So I've put a few ounces of Au aside added to next season's take, that should put me over the top for a good machine. |

I've owned a bigfoot, a conquest8 and now the avenger. The 8 wheels are better overall performers, give a smoother ride, and of course increased cargo capacity. The 6's give a fairly jumpy ride, but are the faster of the models and I found performed better in the snow with standard tracks.
The biggest knock I have on conquest is the 22" tire size. The rim/tire combo leave you exposed to more rim damage and subsequent air loss. If you plan to be heading out on long trails, and need your tires to be reliable, then the bigfoot is perhaps a better used choice. |

I haven't owned all of the AATVs, but I've driven most of the popular ones. I still think those HydroTraxx machines separate the men from the boys. I use mine for work and play. My theory is, if it can work, it can play. Speaking of small tires, I run 27". |

As far as argo's, if buying new 2007, choices will be frontier/response/avenger, I believe.
Anything I bought, new or old, except the avenger, I'd put the new argo 24" tires on it that the frontier has. I watched one for a weekend, great ride, traction, and mud hole/water speed. No problem with beads dismounting at 2.5 psi in the rough stuff on stock argo wheels. Greg Orr put a set on an avenger, that's how well he liked them. |
