well i'm building some kind of robot for a big proyect we have planed for sometime and i really like the way the 6x6 atvs turn in their own radius, so the question that i've got is there a relation between the lenght and wide of the vehicle to make it turn on its own radius?? any help would be great i've been thinking on building the robot kinda square, but don't know if that wold help it turn in the radius of the robot...

Miguel,a 6x6 turns in it's own radius because 1 side wheels lock.it's like nailing 1foot to the floor, skinny guy small radius, big guy large radius.6x6's labor when they are on blacktop when turning too much friction!your robot would have to have 1 side of wheels turn foward while the other side turns in reverse to operate smoothly during tight turns.

what dennis ment to say is that most 6x6's skid steer because they dont have a split tranny(t-20) setup. but there are a few that have been modified to perform 0 raidus turns. opposing tire banks or tracks rotating in oppisite directions allowing an about face without moving an inch. if you want your project bot to do an about face in its tracks you will need seperate drive motors for each side of the bot.
