Hello all I have a Bombardier Bombi and I was wondering if anywone knows where to get odd sized tires . It has 10 x 450 tires, which im starting to believe are quite rare . I dont know if any of you have seen one of these or not but there a small tracked vehicle with a Ford industrial engine coupled to a 4 speed transmission which drives what appeares to be a dana differential whith the spider gears removed and has the replaced with long spur gears which drive individual planetary drives with brake bands in oil . All this in backwards with the operator sitting towards the front . Mine is equiped with the 24" inch aluminum cleated snow tracks there made by Bombardier the Canadian snowmobile company that biulds Ski Doo . anywone know anything about these ?

I know a little about them. I have owned a number of snow groomers, and muskeg tractors. The tires are available from snow groomer suppliers, but are expensive. I found that the small size emergancy spare tires for cars work really well and, if you go to a junk yard they will give you the tires!! Check that out before you buy any. It worked great for me and really bummed out the snow groomer supplier when he found out about it. He had never thought of that and hoped the word did not get out.

Hi there, my grandpa made a Bombardier Bombi back in the late 70's, Now I'm a kid who's still in high school and I have taken it upon myself to restore it.
One of the axles is bent and thats why my grandpa parked it, it has an Austin car engine and I'm guessing its around 150-200hp.
So if anybody has any info about how to straighten a bent axle please post some info on this post thanks.

Mostly I am wondering about the manufacturers of the components, I've been told engine was chevy, ford, and dodge (the only inline dodge I know of is the old slant six) both the engine in mine, and the spare look like the old Willys six.
what type of differential doeas it have and things like that.

When I picked mine up there was another Bombi in pieces, not sure if it's the same year or not, cab, doors, wheels, new track belts, drive wheels, engine and trans. Pretty much everything but the chassi and differential. it was used as a sidewalk snowplow, so it has a full hydraulic system on it.
The spare engine though has the old waterproof military style 'bolt' on spark plug wires, similar to coax cable, mine has normal boot type plug wires.

I haven't yet had the time to go get all the spare parts though, I'm working roughly 50 miles the opposite direction lately and haven't had the time to get over there.

Out of curiousity, what do you use yours for?

Ken

I just purchased on ebay what was said to be an 81 Bombardier Bombi, but it is different than any Bombi I have seen (and NO manufacturers info plate) . It has an Onan 16hp twin engine, rubber tracks like the Cushman Trackster (I own two of these) and an automatic variable belt drive like a snowmobile. Also it is only 48" wide as opposed to my tracksters which are 60" wide. I haven't been able to find any information on it! Can anyone help?

Just an update to my previous post. I found out that the machine I was told was a Bombi is in reality a "Passe Par Tout" which was manufactured in Elk Rapids, MI by Twin Bay Industries in the mid 70's. The seller said it would "go over anything" which I guess is the translation for the French name. Anyway its a blast to drive but I would like to find a source for manuals or spare parts for it in case I need to repair anything. If anyone has info, I'd appreciate it.
