could someone tell me about this engine hp,charging amp's.I am new to this atv. i picked up a max ser#5584 with a 444cc Jlo ,t-20 trans,and i am in shurch of any info.

Sam, thanks for takeing the time to respond to me.i work funny hours all week 7a-7p and i just can not find the time to call him. i talk with him in e-mails he said to call him also. i am off on weekends and you can only call him on weekdays,that is why i did the discussion board. i will call him as soon as i get time.all i have right now is this.thanks Dave

Hi, Dave;

It depends on what model your engine is, but most of the 440s were 75 watt lighting (charging) coils. The 2F-440-2, which is an early model probably '70 or '71, was rated at 35 horses. I would imagine yours will put out a little more. If you find the engine ID tag and get the model number, I may be able to find the right specs for you. Take Care,

Don, i called RI they told me it was a 1978 big max , with a 444cc JLO the model # 440 2ams off the engine plate. Thanks alot
