I bought my MAX II factory direct back in '96. (I didn't know there were dealers, as I was responding to the little b&w ads that R.I. printed in the back of hunting magazines.) I drove to Buffalo to pick mine up, and my salesman was kind enough to take me on a tour of the plant. It was pretty neat. A small facility, and a small workforce that seemed to really enjoy what they were doing.

Stupid me. I brought my video camera along, but didn't even think about asking if I could film the plant. DUH!

The first think I noticed was a big, above ground swimming pool. I thought maybe these guys took a dip to cool off whenever it got too hot outside. Turns out it was set up to test the MAX vehicles. Each one has to float before passing on to the next check. I wish I'd taken notes or something. The details are fuzzy, and getting fuzzier with each passing year. Besides which, I was so excited about picking up my brand new MAX that everything else was sort of a blur.

The old Recreatives video used to show some areas of the plant and the employees working on various vehicles on the assembly lines. I haven't seen their new sales video, so I don't know if it shows the factory or not. Does anyone have the new vid? I'd like to know what the differences are, besides the updated model info.

Later!

HARRY
