The dates for this years Jamboree will be July 11-12-13. The Jamboree is moving about ten miles to a new (and better) venue. Greg will be posting complete info very soon but I wanted to get the dates out to you as soon as they were confirmed for those who need to reserve vacation time. A great event is going to get better!!

George- You are in luck! The new location is very close to the interstate so it will make an easier trip for everyone coming from every direction except north.

The event info is now on the event page. Including directions and lodging.

Apparently a typo saying that the ride is in Humphrey, it is actually in Olean NY. Olean is a good sized community with everything you will need for the weekend.

Hi Dave- The event is a business sponsored by a single individual. Greg has been operating dice runs for quads there for about a year. By the way amphibs are welcome at any of his events, they will begin in April.
I attended one of his events last fall and his facility is great. He has more than 20 miles of excellent trails, none of which is road. Two and possibly three ponds along the trail to play in. The terrain is very similar to the Humphrey trail, in many ways it is better.
All of the land is owned by Greg so there will not be the constant fear we have always had of losing the trail the day before the event.
The trail is called Copper Ridge trail. It is located about five minutes off of the interstate(86) so it is much easier to drive to for most everyone.
There are many reasons that the Jamboree has moved, too much to type with two fingers. Those of you that know me are aware of what I like in a trail and Copper Ridge is it.
We asked a lot of the Humphrey regulars and got their opinion as to what the perfect event would be. Most agreed on a weekend with as much riding as possible.
As a result: Night ride Friday
All day trail ride(dice run) Sat.
Night ride Saturday
Open trail all day Sunday
No Rodeo,no big dinner, although food will be available most of the weekend. Just ride, ride, ride!!
All of us that ran the Humphrey Events were volunteers. Everyone at Copper Ridge is on the payroll(excluding me).So the event is going to cost a little more, but it will be well worth the little extra. I hope to see you all there!

in the past many people have traveled to the jamboree and camped on site,
is that option still available?
i think i can remember about 50 tents there as well as a good number of campers and travle trailers, ect..
i think this is an inportent concideration for many who would attend,
100's of miles add up too lot$ of ga$$ and camping for some helps keep it afordable as well.

Primitive camping is available on-site included in the cost. Greg is always improving the facility and by July he hopes to have hook-ups for people who desire them. There a a lot of nice and shady spots there.

Questions,
1. I noticed that it mentioned registration, insurance and helmets. Is this the case?
2. What, if any, kinds of liqiud refreshments are allowed?
3. If helmets and all the other stuff is required, is this private or public land or both.
4. Is the "Humphrey" location all done? That was one great spot. The firehouse for the meetings and food, the camping area, the swamp in the back for the rodeo and obviosly the trails.
Have them jack up the price and keep it there.

EJ-(1) Registration is not mentioned-self explanatory. Vehicle insurance is not required on closed circuit events. Beg, borrow or steal a helmet and have it with you and all will be well.

(2) Protect this and all events, be discreet.

(3) As it says in my earlier post this event is all on private land.

(4) As for now there will be no more events at the Humphrey location. Perhaps in the future that may change, but don't hold your breath. Copper Ridge is as good and in many ways a better venue. The trails are better, several ponds, more hills no roads and easier to travel to.

Jack up the price? Plenty of folks griped about the cost already! Money has nothing to do with this change of event location.

Hey John,
I think I know the answer, but would I want to hear it from you. Would it be ok to maybe have a TV crew out at the ride to do some filming for there ATV TV show? I have been in talks with a guy that will be starting an ATV show on the Outdoors channel this spring. He is from PA and don't know if he will be making it to any of my rides this year due to the distants, but NY isn't that far from him campaired to my rides. I want to ask you first before talking with him about going to the Jamboree on July 11-12-13. Thanks

Fred - I passed your inquiry on to Greg. When he gets back to me I will contact you. It sounds like a great idea. Media exposure of a family-oriented event like this could do us all some good.

Fred- Greg said that the film crew is a great idea. Have them contact me with any questions.
They should be able to get some good footage of just about all aspects of summer AATV riding, hillclimbs, ponds, great scenery and camping. I plan to do my event video as usual.

Just a reminder- The Northeast Jamboree at its new venue in Olean NY is less than a month away!
There will be a Dice Run at the same location on June 22. Amphibs are welcome at all events and it would be a great way to check the place out. There will be a lot of quads there on the 22nd but it is still a great time. Camping is available also. Go to the events section and click on the Copper Ridge Trails website for directions etc.
Let me know if you are going and perhaps we can hook up.

Last year was my first jamboree and I thought that it was the nuts, that is I liked it. It took first place in broom sweep and third place in the obstacle course, no trophy for that though. And now the whole thing has changed. Well the wife has a class reunion so we can't go but please let me know about it and maybe next year.

I will be in New York on Friday night. I hope some others will make it as well.
Then the following week I am going to New England to visit some family. I was wondering if you and the Tim's would like to try and set up a little ride up there while I am around.
Let me know.

Dave- Your machine will be ok at the Jamboree. Greg is only trying to be polite to his neighbors and at the same time not giving anyone a reason to try to shut him down. Your Max is nowhere near as loud as some four-wheelers and bikes.
When we asked around at the Humphrey events a vast majority wanted to trail ride on sunday instead of the rodeo events. All of the men and women(including me) who spent the whole rodeo day volunteering to run all those events will now get to spend the day riding with their families and freinds.
As I said in my earlier post, the trails at Copper ridge are better than at Humphrey. You can get on the trail right from your campsite. There are no road trails, lots of scenic overlooks and the last I knew several ponds to play in. You will not be disappointed.
Our Humphrey Jamborees started out small and grew, I suspect that this will be the case here also. I will be there friday afternoon.

Hey Bigkodiak, allways up for a ride. 1 hour south of me is Tim O-keefe with some good trails. Not much hill climbing but pretty safe to ride(no cops as you wont be registered). 1 Hour north of me and you are into the most challenging terrain I have ever driven in my allmost 20 years as a 6X6 runner, but the cops are usually there. I'm sure Tim O-keefe will want to ride.

Cool beans on the ride near you guys. I always enjoy going new places.
We can discuss further @ the NY ride.
Tim, my machine is registered in PA is that acceptable or should I try to get a local thing?
Mark
I had a great time @ Haspin and will certainly return to ride again.
The funds collected go to the company that owns/leases the property. In the case of Copper ridge it also includes a dice run with prizes, so there is the possibility of getting some of your money back.

Brian- Follow this discussion back to the beginning and all of the answers to your questions are there.
Mark- The fee was structured this way so that you only pay for exactly what you want to do, and for how long you plan to stay. If you compare the cost of three days of riding at Haspin Acres ($45)and Three days of riding at Copper Ridge ($50) it is in line with most other events. As Russ said, at Copper Ridge you have a chance to win some money back.
Brian- There is plenty of room to camp for everyone.
Dave- Haspin was very dry this last trip. We were able to climb some very steep inclines that are impossible when wet. There was still plenty of mud though, we did a lot of pulling, pushing and winching. Roger and Wetsu came from Okla. and they seemed to think it was worth it, perhaps you could contact them.

Mark- Larrys camera mount worked terrific, he did a great job on it. I used 1 hour and 20 minutes of his footage combined with my 3 hours makes for one very long video!
You are right about the wording on the event page, it can be interpreted several ways and I have had lots of questions about it from many people. I hope you guys can make it up, your Max will do fine on the Copper Ridge trails.

Anyone who ordered a Haspin video (or who wants one) Please let me know if you are coming to the Olean ride and I will bring your tape with me instead of mailing it. See you there.

Whats the problem Roadwolf. I pay $275.00 a year to ride at Tower City. If you want to ride for the day, they now charge $30.00 a day.
Quit whining, belly up to the bar and have some fun.
BTW...I need a tow vehicle anyway, I need a trailer for misc stuff, and I would have loved to pay only $2500.00 for my machine.

hey brian,
that is capitalism. making money is the whole point of operating a business. the price is not that bad considering the trails this place has to offer. nothing is cheap anymore, look at the price of a new max or argo, or worse yet one of those inferior four wheelers that they are getting 8000 bucks for, and they dont even float! its just money, who gives a crap! ride and enjoy life!

Hi John Schwab,
This is Bob Eells. I was at haspin with the brown Max II. My wife Julie and I won't be able to make it to the humphrey ride as planned. Please mail my video if you haven't already done so. I will keep in touch with you and the events on the discussion board and will try to attend future events as we had a great time at haspin. Hope to see you at future events!

big-o-kodiak, no problem with me mate i have been to humphrey and supported the fire chiefs and vets there. 275$ verses whatever is still a cheap and worthwhile ride.
maybe you need glasses or just don't know how to read but i said 2500$ plus+++++!!!!

For all of those who griped, complained, whined and cried:
YOU ALL MISSED A VERY NICE RIDE.
The trails were very nice, and just right for the intermediate rider with enough challenge for the advanced rider. The trails were well groomed and with a little help from mother nature, nice an goopy.
There does need to be a little tweaking done to the oganization as a whole, and some more trails would be nice, but overall a good experience. On a scale of 1-10 I would say an 8.

Russ no one was really crying like you stated it's that some don't have the cash to put out for a ride like that i seen there was a poker runs and all that but it's still hard to see were all the money was going but i glad every one that went had a good time it should be set up a 1 time fee for ones that don't want to do the runs and then the one's that do then collect from them but still could still ride together to me that sounds more like a plan cant wayte to star hearing the storeys and seeing pic's from there

you poor saps who didn't show up missed the muddiest trails you could imagine. 40 bucks for me for the weekend was pittles for the ride and trail. that place was just as good as humphrey, probably better, I cant believe I second guessed going earlier this spring. these people at copper ridge know how to make trails. Plus as you said david, PONDS! I did drop the ball and didn't bring fire wood, but that will not happen again. Later.

Argoguru, How did you get away with only 40 dollars for the weekend? I added it up and if you rode the dice run and both night rides plus pay to ride Sunday it would be 50 dollars for one machine and driver. Then if you had a passenger it would be an extra 10 dollars per ride. My husband and I didn't go because it would be 100 dollars just to ride if we rode all that was offered we couldn't swing that this year. There were a couple of things I was not happy with. 1) In the past the dice run fee included a dinner when you got back to camp, this year it was more money and no dinner. 2)as last year they charged for the night rides which I didn't like when they did it last year. 3) this year they didn't have the events on Sunday like before, they were a lot of fun and it is a shame they eliminated them.I guess if you just went and rode the dice run you wouldn't bee out that much, but, when I go to a ride I go to ride not sit around camp! I have been to every jamboree since the first one and not beeing able to go this year didn't make me happy and sad to say if it is the same next year even if I have the money I probably will not go because I do not think it is worth the money ponds or no ponds.

Mazurowsk
I rode the whole weekend except for Sunday. I spent $70.00 for myself and my little brother. Guru missed the Friday night ride.
I felt the same at first about the price, but then began thinking. The ride is not being held at the fire hall any longer. An individual business was running the ride. It costs them more money to run the event because employees want paychecks and don't volunteer their time. Taxes have to be paid and other associated business expenses are incurred.
Remember this wasn't Humphrey Amphibious ride X, This was Copper Ridge I.
Copper Ridge was there when Humphrey wouldn't have us anymore.

The $100 bucks I dropped was well worth it just to see 2 grown men in a baby cairage going down the mountain. The best mud I've seen in a while, but I still miss Ramonas mud hole.

Wow, what a great weekend of riding. It was especially nice for me to just ride and not work all weekend like I volunteered to do at Humphrey.
It was an extra treat that mother nature supplied us with all of that sticky mud and zero dust. I have to apologize to everyone who was on the sunday ride for making that wrong turn and forcing us all to run that particularly gooey section all over again, please forgive me.
Jon- Don't fret about not bringing firewood. There was plenty of it laying around, we were just too busy riding those darn ATVs to take the time to pick any up. Besides it was still fun sitting around the lantern swapping stories.

This would be a good time to hear from everyone what is was they liked or did not like about the event. Greg would like to hear constructive things to make the event better for next year.
Before you complain too much about the cost, make some calls to some other off-road parks and you will find that Copper Ridge is in line with the rest of them. I would like to see a rate that makes it easier for families to attend.
I would also like to see a "Golden Wrench" award that would go to the rider with the most breakdowns. This years would have to be presented to our very own Dave Berger. Dave, did I really count five breakdowns?
I can't wait until next year!!!

russ is right, I missed the night ride friday, that is why it was only 40 bucks for the rest of the weekend.
Its funny you mention cost, think about this: How much money does you and your spouse spend going to a movie and then out to dinner? with me and my wife we can drop 80 bucks easy, without drinks, and that does not happen to often.
I always bring my own food and carpool with my other riding partners when possible, and the whole trip cost under 200 bucks. yah thats alot of money, but look at how much you spent on your machine and trailer.... doesn't make much sense staying at home and grumbling over a 100 bucks. sacrafice a couple nights out for a weekend tearing up terrain. Just my opinion, but it is not like their is many places such as copper ridge to ride anymore. And as russ said, after talking to the owner for a while it became very clear that his overhead for this single ride was way more than what the aatv coffer coughed up. He is going to do it again next year to see if it gets better and then if it dont, that is it for us. Just food for thought.

yes john i did brake down more often than even i could deal with, not including video equipment, when i couldent brake my own machine i borrowed one and broke it too!
i don't think theres too much copper ridge needs to chainge,
some people qite erly because they dident know where the trail went, got confused by quiot zone signs ect..ect..so here are my sugestions:
maybe a map showing aproxamat trail and how it corasponds to the landmarks like the upper and lower campgrounds and snackbar, this may help people tell wether they have traveled the whole route and where they belong next, along with even more signes, say a special type for steep hill bypasses so people with week machines can avoid them, for example maybe blue or white arrowes for easyer routes,
maybe the red trail should be easy with some trails of diferent color branching off that represent a chaleng for thoughs who think they can.
the map will help thoughs who need to exit the trails pick the right route, maybe nameing, numbering or color coading difernt sections will help people compleat coarse,
just food for thought.
theres a whole year till the next one, if everyone starts saveing now there shouldent be anyone who cant afford it next year,
think about it, without your suport there may not be any after the next one,
botom line:copper ridge is easy to find,
the trails were great,
the food afordable and camping ample,
no reason we cant expect 150 machines next time!

how many machines were there this year???was it as good a turnout as in the past years??and does the proceeds still go to the firefighters????
as price...it cost me about 300.00 to go to haspin(of course i did take the long way around).and when i got there i didn't even have my machine anymore.i camped,i rode,i ate,and drank an argo load of beer....bottom line,i had a great time.so it really shouldn't be about the money but,the memories.what it more important to you.now i realize we aren't all made of money(even though my kids think i am)and thats cool.but i think next year we should all make an attempt to go.put away a couple bucks a week,or a payday.just stick it in an envelope,or a cookie jar,or what ever.10 bucks a month=120bucks in a year.throw all of your pocket change into a 3lb coffee can;probably another 75.there are all kinds of ways to do it.if you don't miss it now you won't miss it then either.and you get to have an enjoyable weekend with fellow riders.if worse comes to worst next year i may bring my kids go-kart just so i can be there(if i don't have another 6wheeler by then.

25.bucks to do all that??????what do you live right next door???? i spend more than that just for beer!!!!! it used to cost me 7.00 to fill up my bigfoot,40.00 to fill up my truck, and atleast 50.00 for food.camping fees in the summer are 16.00 a night/winter is 6.00,30.00 for beer for 2 days and 3 nights.that comes to around 143.00 during peak season.all of that to ride alone.
who cares where the money goes,as long as you get to ride with a pretty good bunch of people.not to mention advice,or help that all of these people have to offer,to make you a better rider.it's only money,i'm sure you can make more.it seems a shame to spend all that money for a machine, and not want to ride with others who share the same interest as yourself.simply because you think it's a rippoff.

I don't want to whine but I have had some hard times and I can't take the position of it is only money. I really love to ride and yes it is a shame to spend the money on machine and trailer and not use them, BUT, I was able to go to humphrey because of its price but just barely. So you see the price going up does effect me more than most. I am not able to go to the other places to ride because of the cost of everything as it is I am able to only make it off my land to ride about three times a year and Humphrey was my most enjoyable but it took eveything I had to get the money for that. I am sorry to complain. I guess I am just disappointed that I probably will not be able to go to the jamborees for a good while because of the change, and my financial situations. I am glad everyone had a good time that went maybe if thing change by next year I will see you all there.

is it true the guy that put this on went broke due to only a small amount of riders showing up ??? i heard this through the grape vine and as for the prices i did say it seemed hi but every thing seems hi to me only getting a 800.00 disability check a month and your kid receives 1 for 400.00 and then all the meds runs you a 1000.00 a month that is why riding it put on the back burner rite now hopefully when I'm Abel to get back to work again it's only has been 3 years now things will change but the job field really sucks rite now you can say what's a 100.00 or so to ride with friends your rite just really stinks when you don't have it trust me if i did have it i would be the 1st there a week early i love to ride but do to going to the haspin ride a few weeks be for this well that was all my riding for this summer i really don't think anyone knows what it fells like to be having a great life 1 day then wake up heading to work with in 5 hrs have your life turn to shit like mine did 4/4/00 + it don't help being a single father with a dead beat mom i think it is great the ones who showed up had a great time but i hope it put it clear of why i was not Abel to make and others riding is great but surviving is even better

Mark- Greg did not "go broke"on this event. Did he make money?no. There are extra costs incurrred when starting up a new event. And he was not surprised that some people would not take a chance on a new thing. He is a successful business man in other areas and his Quad dice runs are well attended (at $25 per ATV plus $5 to park). So far he wants to do it again next year and see if it grows. Our first Jamboree at Humphrey featured about 20 amphibs, and grew to over 100 in three years.
Bob- We were hoping to see you and Julie at out Ribit Rider Enduro last weekend, you missed a great weekend. Get in touch with me for info on our next outing. I am glad to hear that the video helped you solve that mystery handprint thing. I thought that you might have to contact those CSI folks from TV.
As soon as I am able to get some accurate figures on the Cooper Ridge Jamboree I will post them.

It's now my turn to say how GREAT COPPER RIDGE WAS and will be next year. First I want to say thanks to
Greg for all the hard work that he put in to put this ride on. And lets not forget John Lockwood that helped make this move from Humphery. And if I may say so, John took his life in his own hands by getting in Dan's (the humphery rollover king) Max and enjoying his first ride in a 6X6.
Dan,Bill and myself traveled over 800 miles round trip for this ride and we're ready to do it again. Great trails, ponds, and all the MUD you could want.
I didn't add up what this trip cost me and I really don't care. Its all about riding and most of all seeing old friends the I've ment the last three years at Humphery.
What a great weekend. I sure hope more of you will make it next year.
Thanks again Greg, and John. See you all next year. Larry (Sti-Me) Jackson, Michigan

There were 40 machines at the 2003 Jamboree and 67 people. I did not even attempt to count the millions of tons of sticky mud. Anyone who wants to ride at Gregs quad events is welcome. If anyone is interested, get in touch and we will get a group together.
I started a new thread for the 2004 event so that newcomers aren't confused with the name "Humphrey" included.

I had a great time at the ride. My old Attex only broke one VERY important bolt, which everyone helped me fix. Thanks also to the 8-wheel Argo that easily dragged my son's three-wheeler back to the parking lot (after we got it out of the mud pit). For those of you who saw the three-wheeler, I just got it put back together, it had mud in the oil, mud in the carb, mud in everything. That ride was muddy. Since this is ony a couple hours from my house, we might be going back real soon.

The eight wheeler that pulled your 3 wheeler back was Gil Cheney of Cheney's Argo Sales. He indeed is an all around good guy.

Reminder- There is a Dice Run for Quads Sunday August 17th at Copper Ridge, and Amphibs are welcome. Olean is in the heart of the areas of NY that have had torrential rains so the trail should be excellent. Registration starts at 8am sunday. Ride starts at 11am. You can arrive anytime after noon on saturday and camp if you wish. I will be there.
