I am military, soon to be retired and a federal civilian type, so I hear stuff once in a while. Anyway, a few of the folks I work with have 4X4 ATVs and they were fussing about some new Federal law that literally closes most federal lands to ATV use? Lets be clear here, in Nebraska there is already alot of restrictions upon where you can use an ATV. Now, this is going to further restrict it down to private land only. If I remain in this area after retirement I am moving to Iowa anyway. (less taxes.)
How much of a crimp is this new federal law going to put on the current rides? I plan on bringing this up to my Senator (Ben Nelson) and expressing these concerns, because this is goofey. I hunt alot of federal lands, I mean lets be honest, almost 1/4 of the entire west is still in federal hands. This is a BIG issue that the people on this board and other organisations ought to be screaming to high heaven about, but not to each other as grumblings and complaints, but to the people that are supposed to be SERVING them as elected officials.
I get that there ARE places that an ATV ought not to be, but all federal parks? That is a bit much. As a citizen those lands do not belong to some far away entity, they belong to ME, to US, as WE are the government, and those elected nitwits only REPRESENT us. So, anyone got anything on this? |
