Flat Nasty off-road park is located just south of the Ozarks in Jadwin, MO. I just talked to one of the nice people that own the park. Our vehicles are very welcome to come ride the 850 acres in the park. Best of all, vehicles equiped with a roll bar/cage with SEAT BELTS are not required to wear a helmet. You'll need to wear a helmet if your vehicle does not have this. I am told there are lots of very nice trails from easy to extremely extreme. You know what trail I'll be on!
Cold weather is coming in quick. We need to set a date soon and get everyone out riding again. We just don't do this kind of thing enough here lately. I'm thinking October 20 would be good. That's two weeks notice for everyone and will hopefully keep us out of the cold. I'm sending emails now to previous riders. See the park's website at FlatNasty.net .

Like Jerry, I too am unavailable that weekend as I will be out of town.
The next several Saturdays after that all look pretty good right now, though. If it does go forth as planned on the 20th, have fun without me!!

The next Saturday is the 27th which is probably just as good as any other. We can do it then if it fits into more riders' plans. We'll set a firm date by the beginning of this week after everyone has time to respond. |

I doubt that I'll be there on the 27th. That's the weekend of the Tulsa Gun Show, and this year it's hosting the NRA collectors exhibition. I would like to ride sometimes in the next few weeks. Henry |

I can normally only get away on Sundays. We have several people off work with injuries so we are short staffed and time off is hard to get. Saturdays are almost impossible because of function like football games, dances, concerts, etc. |

I've been wanting to see how that place is. I'm suppose to be on call that weekend.(every 4 or 5 weeks) I'll try to trade if it's that weekend. Camping there sounds cool to me. |

It seems everyone likes the weekend of the 27th so that sounds like a good time to do it. It has been over a year since our last ride at Deepwater. Let's gather as many riders as we can and make a good showing at the new Flat Nasty off-road park. They have never seen our type of vehicle there! |

Jerry and John, sorry to hear you two can't make it. So far the outcome looks good otherwise. I just added Rick "momobigfoot" to the list, so that makes six amphibs. I have not yet heard from Roger either way. Our last Deepwater ride had 10 vehicles if I remember right, and it took four states to get that many. Amphib riders are few and far between in this area so we have a lot of work to do getting more people into the sport. |

I just talked to the owner of the park. They will be open at 8am on Saturday morning. Many of us have some distance to drive so I think somewhere around 10am might be a good meeting time. Also, I was happy to hear that night riding is allowed. Plan on staying late if possible! A few things I want to make sure everyone knows:
If you don't have a roll bar/cage with seat belts, you must wear a helmet.
It is $15 per vehicle to ride in the park, and $5 for each extra person. You can ride multi-passengers up to the limit your vehicle was designed for. Camping is also available for just a little extra.
Does 10am sound like a good time to meet in the parking lot? |

ONLY TWO DAYS left until the ride! Right now the weather forecast is as good as we could hope for. Sunny and maybe up to 60 degrees. We'll see if that holds true.

Great weather, been getting a little rain each week there. Is going to be great to get the area gang together again! A full moon for night rides! I'm camping Sat nite, will ride Sunday too.
Wondering if all the old gang members like Adam have heard about this..

Flat Nasty is a great park,It is mostly rocks,would of liked to have seen a little more mud though.We enjoyed the night ride,but we covered the terrain a little more quickly than we ride normally.But was a blast anyhow.I think another ride would be great there.I also am going to get the Jeep club together for a ride.It was good to see some riders that I havent seen in awhile.Roger,the Response still sounds awsome. Was a great weekend. Good to see some of the group again. A beautiful Fall weekend on a remote chunk of the Ozark Mountains. The Current river is nearby and floatable in season. Our group were the only people there, had the whole place to ourselves practically. Rick and I were the only campers on the land.. well Eddi and company had the cabin/house. Deer all over the place.
The park.. in a word.. Rocky. Typical Ozark forest. We covered the main trails and, Sat nite found a good, long, "smoother" trail with a little of everything.
This place is built to challenge modified trucks.. big climbs with big ledges and boulders, etc. But also has mild interconnecting trails. Did I say ROCKY yet? Rocky as in rough trails. So it's more slow and technical on most trails, although we eventually found less rough trails. Very pretty though.. some trails very little use with pine needle carpet, etc. Can't make your own trails.
Brandon hung it ALL out on a steep, rutted, high climb. He wore me out watching him. Had the thing way up a steep hill and dancing it off the sides of the ruts.. like it was stood on one rear tire. That was nuts. Well, he was trying to follow me which he did.
Several people took cameras so pics will come.. I brought the camcorder but had problems. Would have been a good tape. |

Roger,how long did you ride on Sunday?I kept seeing your tracks,I think you were just in front of us.We finally pulled out of the park at about noon.We finally found a "w" trail with some mud and water,and covered what we did on our night ride backwards.Cant wait till next ride.Eddie |

I just posted eleven pictures of the ride on my website. If anyone else has some good pics, email them to me and I'll post them.
It was a fun ride. At first I thought it was going to be too rocky, but after some time exploring the park we were able to get into some really fun trails. The night ride was awesome since we found the perfect trail for it. We rode for well over two hours on one trail in the dark. It was a chilly night with a nearly full moon and we had the park to ourselves. Couldn't ask for much more than that. I'm glad everyone had a good time and I hope you enjoyed my death defying hill climbs and decents!
None of the new Argo models made a showing this time. I think we are overdue for a big ride at the Badlands in Indiana. That area will usually gather 30 or more amphibs. A Spring ride will be on the calendar and maybe something before then. |

Eddie, Rick and I didn't ride Sunday, we went to bed 4:30 AM sunday morning, up around 8:30 AM. Then coffee/breakfast/recovering took up the rest of the morning. Left the park about 1:00 I guess.
I saw the "W" sign Sat night.. good to know there's a muddy trail there. |

There were 7 machines that showed up,3 machines had passengers.Total was 1 Argo response 8x8,3 Argo Bigfoots,2 MaxII,1 Max4.I thought it was a good turnout,I have seen some rides with 40 machines show up,I have also been on one that had 3 show up.I will plan on making any future rides,seems I was kind of stalled on my Argo riding(jeep has been first in line lately) but this ride has got me back in the mood. |
