I haven't seen it posted on the events board yet, but keep September 23rd open on your calenders for the Central Pennsylvania All Terrain Vehicle Association's third annual Rodeo in Philipsburg, PA. I attended the first two and they were a blast. They are a more-or-less quad club, but they welcome the amphibs and open special classes for us in their event schedule. It would be great to see a big turnout this year. Let's see some of the fire-breathing machines from this board put to the test!

Hope to see everyone there.

i plan to attend with or without my maxII.
i made it to the first and it was a blast!
the 4x4 club members were blown away by our strange machines and none expected us to dominate the mud bog event.
i remember hearing a number of the quad guys saying that they were thinking about getting a 6x6 now that they had sean how much fun they were. ect..ect..
so count me in!

What they did last year was split up the major part (maybe all) of the entrance fee between the entrants with the three best times. So, if you're confident about doing well, you may come home with as much or more money than you left with.

I plan to go. Hey Dave do you want to drive my black Scrambler? I got most of the bugs out. Changed the final gearing. A skinny guy like you should fly with it. Its as fast as it was at Pete's if not faster. It even stops. It scares the crap ot of me. It's faster than my 660 quad.

I'll be there with at least one machine, perhaps two if I can get my frame straightened out in the 503R. I think I bent the frame at this event last year; lots of bad stuff happend real quickly trying to keep up with the McKay racer... This event is a lot of fun, and is extremely well organized by CPATV. Their was a great overall turnout last year, but most of them were quads. Don's picture at the top shows all of the AATVs at last year's event.

Marc, I can't wait to see the Scrambler at this event with all the bugs worked out. I will especially like to see Dave Berger behind the sticks! We're hoping to get the majority of the Attex crowd down there this year, too. Since many of the events are about maneuverability and finesse rather than straight-line speed, four-stroke machines are often right there with the high-winder crowd in the end.

I happen to like straight-line speed, however

Great, Lance... NOW you come up with the ideas. Long after the Kadoo is already gone.... I hope to have the 26 EFI in something more...uh...yellow sometime soon, but I don't know if it'll be ready by P-burg... There's still a lot of fabrication to be done in order to fit that EFI under an Attex engine cover.

Dave- I hope the Hoot people can make it to P'burg. I'd love to see one of those things go head-to-head-to-head with the modern quads and the antiques we run with.

Mike- If I remember correctly, that particular piece of equipment won't (quite) fit under an Attex engine cover. Do you have a big shoe-horn?

Mark, John, & Lance- Glad to hear you're going to be there. If we all show, we've already got more amphib representation than last year!

It was a good time last year and especially nice to visit with folks we only see once or twice a year.We should all try to recruit a few more people and it will be even more fun. It is the perfect venue for you fast guys to show off your stuff, and for us slow guys to show off our skills(or lack of).

To all who didn't attend the 2006 CAPTVA Rodeo: you missed out on a great time, and chance to show off your stuff. Please join us next year. My son and I had a great time and it looked like the rest of the amphib bunch did, too. There were some wild machines there, along with a good bunch of stockers. I'll try and post a couple pics from Saturday.

The Rodeo was indeed a great time.It was especially enjoyable to get together with folks and have a bunch of laughs and some friendly competition. We wowwed the audience with our skills(sic) and the abilities of our Amphibs. The Quad crowd was amazed at the ease with which we were able to complete the obstacle courses. We doubled our Amhib participation from last year, maybe we can double it again next year as more riders realize the fun they missed. We rounded off the weekend by riding at the Bloody Skillet ATV trails, newly made available to Amphibs, and found that to be an excellent ride area. I will be returning there also. Thanks Don for the great shots, I also look forward to Daves video footage.

That's Joe Mohn's Cushman Trackster. Joe couldn't stay to run it it the sled pull this time, but it got a lot of attention anyway. Joe has lots more pics on his site.

Don, John I think you guys missed the sled pull with my Bigfoot. I was last to pull and missed beating the the longest pull by inches. I probably would have beat him but I had to correct my direction twice with a little brake action because of the banking of the track. The big foot wanted to go towards the center of the track. Next year I think i will hitch up at an angle. The black scrambler needs more work with the steering clutches. By the end of the first pass in the mud bog they turned into carbon powder. I had a super time and plan on being there next year.

Marc- I look forward to seeing you and your machine in action on Daves video. I unfortunately did not leave enough time before my rendevous at Bloody Skillet and had to leave prematurely, I hate when that happens!

I didn't know anyone was going to be in the pulls, or we would have stayed to watch. Congratulations, Mark; it sounds like the Bigfoot did pretty well, considering all the big healthy four wheeled monsters that were there. It wouldn't surprise me if some of them out-weighed your machine by a few pounds. Next year we'll stay later!

Ah, that's the beauty of having the low range in an Argo. I wish I could have seen the ultimate victory over quads! Nice work Marc! It would have been neat to see the big 600cc Grizzlys, et.al struggle to beat a true ATV...
