I am living in OKC while I am in school but I will be coming back to my parents place in Pryor this weekend. My brother is coming in from out of town and he mentioned he would like to do some 6 wheeling. I have been riding down below the dam many times and it is a great place to ride, I’ve even flipped over down there a few times. If we can get everything ready, we will try to make the trip to Disney also. Post a time that you think you will be riding and we will catch you guys if we can. Sorry I did not post earlier but it seems like I have little to no time to do anything besides school work-it would be great to take a break and ride this weekend. Later, John.

Trip report:

Mudfest! It rained when I woke up, rained most of the day, will be raining when I sleep. Everyone got stuck/winched. The place is a great area. John Martin told me about it years ago but I had overlooked it. Should have a few pics to post from Jeff and friends.

Hey Roger i'm glad the fish didn't pull me in!!!!

When ever you want to go again just let us know.

To anybody else out there I would like to get some rides together at Grand Lake, one this fall another next spring or more if anybody wants too.

There are so many trails we didn't even get to show Roger half of them. For those out of state or who need a campground there is one with access to the GRDA(grand river damn auth.) without having to cross the public highway.

Get in touch with us if anyone is interested.

Yes it was a good ride.. too short as usual. I enjoyed your kid's laughter and joy as they rode in the back. Kaleigh needs to be strapped in! She's way too casual about it, hehe. Let's get her a tiny helmet.

I'll re send the deepwater maps.

Below the Dam at Grand Lake is a fantastic riding area. It would rank high for an organized ride. It's an old river valley with surrounding ups and downs, mudpits, logs.

Hi Jeff/Michelle.. I got your e-mail and replied but imagine you're still not receiving them? Guess you wondered if you'd ever sell a machine, and then sell all three! Way to go, hehe.

Henry lives on Beaver Lake and has a MaxII. I'd like to try the Hot Springs park. As I told Henry, I'm also looking at a chunk of wilderness in SE Oklahoma. Private timber land that's managed by the state wildlife department, about 400,000 acres. It has a yearly user fee but atv's are allowed. I plan on driving down for a weekend and looking around. Here's some pics from Texas atv'ers in the area.

Hey Guys-

Thanks Henry for the web site - we would like to go and ride there. We will need to wait till our kids baseball season is over which will be about 2 weeks or less. Henry I believe we spoke once before on the phone!!

Hey Roger- Austin is ready to go after he saw the pics, so am i!! I still have not been getting your e-mails, let's verify jmak11@iglide.net - that's jmak11(one one)@i(letter i).net just in case the one's look like the letter I like they can. I will give you a call soon. Isn't that funny how we sell them, the MAXII went to a local guy and the 2 MAXII's went to guys in Arkansas.

I'm still looking to get together a group ride in Hot Springs AR at the Superlift ORV Park. They have welcomed 6x and 8x vehicles. How about the last weekend July? I'd probably go down Thurs 7/28, return Sunday 7/31. Ride Fri and Sat. Alternative would be 7/14 - 7/17 (2nd choice). Anyone interested? Henry

I could probably make the end of month weekend, Henry. Not sure I want to as hot as it's getting..

I'm more inclined to tow the boat over to Beaver Lake and eat catfish and cobbler at The Crest restaurant, heh. Keep me in mind for a float trip/shuttle.. I didn't get to float the Buffalo or any other this Spring.

Let's see what the others say.

One more time. I'm not having much luck getting interested riders for a July 28-31 ride at the Superlift ORV park in Hot Springs AR. (dates are
for travel time, etc. - not a 4 day ride)
Last call if interested. Otherwise I'm off on a different adventure.

sorry we have not been able to plan a ride _ I don't think we will be able to make it. We have a hunting and fishing show to exhibit in. Maybe we can plan to go in the fall. We love to ride, we will get together and do so.

I went to the Superlift ORV Park, near Hot Springs, alone, just to check it out. Great place and great hospitality. If vehicle has a roll bar & seat belts, no helmet required. Many trails, lots of rocks, steep terrain, all trails rated for difficulty. Believe the ratings! I basically rolled my Max II, and will have to repair some minor damage. Nevertheless, the park is a great riding area, with many more local activities for a family. The Superlift folks will welcome 6 & 8 wheelers any time. I'm interested in returning, but maybe with some support in case I roll again.

I have talked to the owners of that park a few times and yes, they would love to have a bunch of us down there riding one weekend.

How does a person roll a Max II? Easy. It will climb with ease, but traction is a problem. I was climbing a rock ledge. Just about had it made, when it lost traction, and basically sat back on it's rear end, facing up to the sky. It twisted left, fell onto that side, with the left front wheel hitting a rock about the same time the roll bar hit. It finally settled back on all six wheels, but the left front was now out of alignment, ie, pushed inward, and unbeaded (flat). It drove back to the trailer OK, but will need some minor work and a new wheel. Not a full 360 degree roll, but close enough for my money. Kind of a twisting half-gainer.

PS- yes, the cool front did make it down there. It was "hot", but only 80's with a nice breeze. I stayed in one of the old hotels (Majestic), which has enough parking for my SUV with Max trailer. The park has camping, too. I really do think it's a great place for off-roading.

I'm thinking of putting a winch on my Max II. Any ideas on which one is best, and how much pulling power is really needed. I want enough power, but don't want to add unnecessary weight up on the nose.

I looked over the superlift orv park website and it does look like it would be a very nice place to go for a group ride.

I have wanted to go on several group rides but it seems I have something else planned or have a breakdown. With some notice I believe this would be a great place to get a good sized group.

The warn atv winch 2500 lbs is popular, the new ones have keychain remotes which is cool. I have an older 2000 lbs model.

Harbor Freight has an interesting winch on sale sometimes for $50. With the line doubled it might work.

I understand you not wanting to add weight, but sounds like you needed a little more upfront, Henry

I'm afraid I don't have a video of my roll, but I do have keen memories of it. Also, I very nearly pinched a hole in my seat covers. But all's well that ends well. Tomorrow I plan to fix the wheel alignment problem, and have a rim on order. For those interested, let's keep thinking of a time to get a small group together at the Superlift ORV park. By the way, it's very close to the Magic Springs amusement park, so it's a great place for a family outing.

I'm still looking at winches. Roger, thanks for the info. On the day I rolled, 300 pounds on the nose might have saved the day, but most days a 12 to 20 pound winch weight should do.

you nkow it's funny but i have known people who never use ther winches to pull them, even sean them stuck when there were trees they could have used, but they would back up and go arround instead, i wondered why then they had the winches, someone told me then it was for weight but i passed it off as sarcasem,
maybe someday when i own a winch you can bet id use it.

OK, guys, I've gotten my Max II repaired (by Richard), and I mounted a Ramsey 2500 ATV winch w/ wireless remote myself, using a custom mounting plate (my design). Now I'm ready to ride again. Anyone interested in Hot Springs, Deepwater, Oklahoma, etc. Fall is about here.

I'll be there, John. I'd like to see Henry join the Haspin rides, think he'd like the terrain and the other MaxII's.

I'd like to do Deepwater when it cools off.

Projected path of the remnants of Rita will move over my house and then over Deepwater. Good chance of getting soaked, in the dirt and at the gas pump!

Guys, I'd love to try Haspin, but the first week in Nov I've committed to a backpacking trip with some buddies. But I'm still trying to hook up with some 6x6 ride somewhere.

I plan on going below the Dam at Grand Lake, Oklahoma this Sunday April 30th. We've been in drought but now am getting soaked, trails should be great! Anyone coming on 1&1/2 days notice?
