Hi, I am brand new to this board and I am hoping you guys can help me. I recently purchased a terra tiger,(do not know what year) that I found abandened for $50.00. The body is in excellent shape. At first it had a JLO engine in it that my dad and I couldn't get to work, so we replaced it with a 8hp Briggs and Stratton. The problem I am having is that when I try to turn my 6-wheeler, the engine doesn't seem to have enough power and dies. It goes just fine until you try to turn it. Should I replace the engine with a more powerful one? Or is there some other problem that I need to fix? Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know if your B&S 8hp is your problem for your tiger not turning but I do believe 8hp is to small for the tiger. I bought one a year ago with a Tecumseh 8hp and it was just a dog! I talked with Richard (owner of this site) and he recommend a B&S vanguard 12hp V-twin that he had. I have since installed it and BOY! what a difference. I would highly recommend this setup to any tiger owner. Your steering problem could be that your steering clutches could be worn out. I am currently waiting on mine to come back from a brake shop that relined mine for me. With the new motor running fine my steering was difficult in one direction and after a couple of days I spun the clutch lining out of it. Richard also has the clutches for the tiger. Showme6x6

Hi, I'm new to this board. I have a Terra Tiger not sure of the model. Tag is worn to the point it is unreadable. It is in the need of a total overhaul. I'm missing the engine, fueltank, and engine compartment cover. It may be missing a few other things that aren't so obvious to me. The body has been cut through under the drive sprockets. In the approximate dimension of 3"x3" squares. How do you go about fixing the plastic or rather the best way to fix it? The transmission lever has been broke off. I really would like to get this unit up and running. I'm just not sure how to go about it. So any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. I have pictures available to give a better idea of identity (model) and overall condition. Thanks!

You know, there must be an on going trend with those holes in the bottom of terra tigers. I've seen 2 others that do, including mine before I fixed it. My best guess would be that if the bolts or pins that keep the axles engaged with the sprockets ever slipped down, it would knock a huge hole in the bottom as the axles turned. Anyways, the fiberglass can be patched with fiberglass cloth and resin. What you can do is clean it up really good and tape a piece of plastic or stiff cardboard on the bottom underneath the holes and fill them in with layers or cloth-resin-cloth-resin until they are filled. When they dry for a while you can sand the glass into shape. I know this works well because I patched holes in mine the size of a brick and it worked magnificently.
