Does anyone know anything about a "Scooter" 6 wheel Canadian built ATV? Just bought one and it runs great. It has an open cockpit with a bench seat and two small side seats molded into the body. Kohler two cycle - loud, smelly, but strong. I would like to modify the steering - currently has a "T" bar that you turn l/r to differential brake - cannot lock both sides to stop, must use the transmission brake. ANY information would be helpful.

Mark, I have been keeping track of the names of the manufactures of the older 6x6s and "Scooter" doesn't sound familar. Your discription sounds a lot like a "Skipper" . There is a very small amount of information on Skippers on Route6x6 in two places. On the Museum page is a photo and a little info and on the "Memory Lane "page in an article called "Multi machines" is a little info.I have found that some machines were sold by two different sources under two different brand names. I wonder if your "Scooter" might be one of these cases? There was a "Skipper" at the Humphery NY.6x6 jamboree last year. I remember seeing the "T" handle steering and the "Bow rider" seats. It appeared to have it's own special transmission.Good luck with your 6x6.

Joel, I must have inhaled too much exhaust when I was writing - it is a Skipper - nice catch. Having had more time to drive it I am getting quite attached to the little thing. The data plate on the front is in perfect condition, with the manufacturer name and address etc. I will try to get the info. for you. I think seat belts and a roll bar are a must-do modification for starters. I will check out the places you mentioned. Thanks a bunch!

I've got a Chaparral with a JLO-295 engine. The Tillotson carb is shot. Anyone know if these carbs are still available or what a good replacement carb would be?

What would be a good engine to replace the JLO with? (When it works it's great but very loud.)

I also notice that the fuel tank has two lines to the engine. One of the lines is copper and the other is rubber. Is the copper line necessary? If so, is the copper line the one sending fuel to the engine?

Thanks in advance for any and all responses!

Dean

Hi Dean, I will make this an "open" message, then everyone will learn. Check the mounting "ears" of your carb, we are looking for letters and numbers. The two lines on your fuel tank, one is "suction" the other "return",inside your tank there should be a "foot valve" on the bottom of the fuel "pick-up" line.
Fuel Pumps,go with what "the engine maker"recommends, avoid automotive type pumps i.e. 5-7psi,much to high for small engines.
For further info of Tillotson,go to ECTillotson on the Internet, great guy willing to help.

Steve, the numbers on the carb are HR87A. I assume the suction would be the copper line to prevent collapse because of the distance it draws the gasoline. This model does not have a fuel pump other than the diaphram in the carb. Do you have the web address for ECTillotson? Thanks for your input.

George,
My guess as to the nipples on the bottom of your carb; 1 is for gas from the gas tank, 1 is for overflow gas from the carb to go back to the gas tank and the last one is to run the integral fuel pump it connects to a nipple near the bottom of the crankcase. Good luck.

sheldon holmes thanks for the info . Now which one goes where? when carb is mounted to engine and your standing on the same side that it bolts to engine. there is a nipple on the left one in the middle an one on the right. I'm guessing the one in the middle is for overflow the one on the left for fuel & the one on the right is the one that runs to crankcase.please let me know if this is correct. Also where can i find parts for WALBRO carbs?

George,
Sorry, I haven't worked on a Walbro carb for a long time. I do suggest you take the pump part of the unit apart and check for a little metal piece that has two little bent tabs the tabs must be intact. I remember them being prone to breaking off and then the pump wont work. Maybe after disassembly you will get a better idea of where the hoses go. Good Luck.

A litttle help from this page would be appreciated. Just bought a 6 wheel amphibious vehicle at an auction for 20 bucks. Don't know what it is but I can say that it has a Borg Warner T20 tranny and a JLO Blackwell motor. Is this motor a 2 or 4 cycle. I have a Honda 12 horse to put in it. I am missing what ever goes on the output shaft of the motor. Are there parts for these things, and how do I get them?

Bill,Congradulations on your find!! If you want to double your money let me know(ha ha).Seriously the JLO Rockwell ? and T20 make me think of an Attex but one thing you can do is look on the Route 6x6 Museum page and see if you find a picture of one that looks like yours. I did this 2 years ago, mine turned out to be a Rough Rider. My guess is that you have a 2cycle motor.Sounds like you are missing the "Driving Clutch" If it is a 2 Cycle and you are in the Snow Belt you might find a used clutch on an old snowmobile. Or Richard's Relics can set you up with a new one,or anything for the T20 and JLO motor. If you can't identify it and can E mail pictures I would like to see it.Good luck and keep us posted.

Don't let that crook cheat you! Hold out for triple the money. Hi Joel ...(GRIN)

I have to agree your setup sounds like my Attex. Incidentally ... If you can't identify it ... drop me a photo of the vehicle ... and I'll try to help.
