Hello everyone. I am the proud owner if a 1970 Ridge Runner- a dual track ATV mfg'd in Minn. Haven't seen many others out there, so it must have been a rather limited production. I has a bench seat for two (very friendly) 618cc Kohler 2 stroke, windshield and canvas top, and a TRUNK ! Not real quick (25MPH) but it sure does get atention wherever it goes. Problem area is the tracks will need to be replaced in the not too distant future. Anyone have any leads as to sources? Anyone know of any other Runners out there? Any help would be appreciated. I once had a Ridge Runner. The boggie wheels are the same used on the old Chapperial Snowmobiles so the tracks may be the same. Some after market tracks can be found (or made) to fit it. Check out Dennis Kirk.com for tracks also go to the new hampshire snowmobile web site and post question.

Thanks for the lead, Bruce. They seem to be the std snowmobile track, but longer-15"x180". I'll start hunting in that direction. What ever happened to your Runner?

Do a "google" search( google.com) for "ridge runner snowmobile". There are probably more out there than you think. I have seen mention of them on many sites. I just don't know where I saw them as I was surfing the 'net. |

I traded my Ridge Runner for an Attex Superchief. I did a lot of work to mine, but never had to replace the tracks. I know a guy who has a number of new ( old stock) transmission for them. Also, I repaired my gauges and brakes. Pretty easy to make parts for those machines. Cool to drive too.

Bruce: Do you have a name or number for the guy with tranny parts?? Called an former dealer in Minn. (tag was in cab) but I thought the guy wass going to stroke out from laughing when I told him I was looking for tranny cluthes for that rig. Guess he doesn't get many calls for Ridge Runner parts anymore. The first season with the Runner was a trying one- one hour run time and 6 hours repair. Seems to be OK now. That steering systems was a nightmare. Had to have the pressure pistons custom made to finally get it to hold presssure and track straight. One can only hope!!

Ridge Runners and Clark "Badgers" and PPT'S all used Cushman Trackster Tracks. |

I appreciate eveyone's information on the Ridge Runner tracks. Have some good leads now, and even on tranny parts! (Thanx, Bruce)Now that the ice is here, time for fishin. Got my Attex 440 in good running order now. Needs a few minor parts, but hopefully Richard will come through with the hard to find items. Will start the cosmetics this Spring. If anyone wants to see the results of a veryyy busy man, you got to visit Tim Wafer's site (above). Some really cool projects. Nothing like variety, eh Tim?
