I have an older 8x8 argo 1980 with the 16 hp tecumseh does anyone have a cross reference for the drive belt that I can get locally from say a snowmobile shop as I do not have an argo dealer close by. Thanks. |

Trans up date i dont recamend that some one with a limmited volacabulay do it is very easy to run out of wards to describe the removel of the trany the mounting bolts would not clear the brake hubs so i had to grind down a chunk of the hub to get the bolts out then the sprokets would not come off the shaft so I had to heat them to get them off the chain was easy then i got the trasny appart and ti did not look that bad except for reverce gear there is some kind of brass bushing that in it that was shot as a mater of fact it wasent there it all ground up in the bottem of the trany low gear was a little warn but not bad same as high gear the planetery gears look good to so any way to make a long story short I orderd to new roters that should be here tuseday the brakes look good it took about two hours to do the job it will be a lot faster puting it back to geather how ever dose the roters and sprokets need to be lock tight back on?????? |

Skip,You can try anti seize compound on the shaft,but the heat from the brakes will end up seizing them back on.You should use some threadlocker on all setscrews and the end bolts.I wouldnt use anything other than blue removable though.You may want to try a bottle of STP in your new tranny,it will coat the gears and will also quiet it down somewhat.I thought the 8-10 hour thing was a bit much.Eddie |

Skip,Try the STP,They have been around along time ,and it is probably more sticky than anything I have ever tried(meaning it will keep gears and case coated better). |

Don't bother putting synthetic in it for a while. The straight cut gears make a lot of shavings during break in and the lube will have to be changed after ? # of hours. |

Sorry, I just wondered why people were talking about transmissions and oils on my question about a drive belt.... it had me confused?? Maybe something wrong with the way it shows on my computer?

Skip,To answer your last question,The book says to change it after 20 hours or two tanks of gas,then every 100 hours after that.Use 80-90w and continue the STP,when you pour it in you will see how it coats everything it touches. |
