Hi Gordy, I have just picked up a 1970 Bazoo from the OTACO comp.If you have any information on this machine, I would like to know about it as I am going to start restoring this machine in the spring. Or if anyone else on the sight has any information I could sure use it.

I also have a bazooo a 1970 have parts book would love repair manual not that it is very complicated
but it would be nice . been told to throw the CCW in the lake what kind of engine have you used

hey, bhampson i juss picked a bazoo as well. it is complete save for the motor. i found out on the route 6x6 it orginally came with a 225 CCW 12.5 horse. have one from a old amphicat. but before you toss yours into the lake can i have the exhaust manifold?, as i desparetly need one!

You guys may already know this, but that CCW was used as a snowmobile motor too. If you have any old sled wreckers near you you should be able to get things like that manifold from them if need be.

I am looking to buy a 1986 Max II with a Techumsah 16. The old darling seems to be in good mechanical shape (except for a bum carborator and bad throttle cable) but is cosemtically rough. What should I look for? What range of price seems right?
Any advice?

get it as cheap as you can,the tecumseh motors were not all that great.the parts are getting fairly hard to come by for them.i would buy it with the intentions of putting an updated motor in
it.make sure it is in fact a 1986,write down the serial #'s and call the factory and they can tell you the year of the machine.is the body poly or abs if it is abs plastic then it is early
70's and someone put the tecumseh in it.any cracks/breaks in the plastic?

i belive the OEM muffler was a small car oval exhaust muffler with several feet of flex pipe.

I just recently aquired a Bazoo from my uncle. It's complete, just been sitting outside for 25 years. It's needs a total restoration. I'm just wondering what one of these things is worth.

If I do restore it, I am worried that the fiberglass will be destroyed the first time it touches something. Is it worth restoring? Or should I just pick up a used Argo?

As it sits, it's a heck of a conversation piece. But I have wanted to fix it up since I was a kid. Now I just want to get out and drive one so I am torn on the decision to buy or restore.

Dan i hate to say this but:
if it's bin a good conversation piece up till now just think how much better it would be as a planter, now that would be a conversation piece!
your best bet is to buy a used vehicle, often you can snach up a bargan from someone who may even have optinal equipment to through in on the deal.
keep your eyes on local bargen mags. and also rt6x6 has clasafides.
you can even arainge to purchuse a vehicle from a discussion board member and meet half way at an AATV rideing event say, and make purchus there. saves on shipping huh.

Thanks David, I think you just planted potatoes on my child hood dream. :-)

I was actualy thinking more along the lines of using it as a basis for making a new alluminum body and just using the internals from it. I can make a tub and machine and spline new axles for it.

For me, half the enjoyment would come from building it. I was just wondering if the internal pieces ( gear box, clutch assembly, etc.) were worth using or not?

I enjoy building things, but I'd rather not waste my time with low quality pieces only to hunt down new ones later and have to change things. Once it's built I would just like to go out and enjoy it. Thats why I figured buying a used one would be a better choice.

I live in Vancouver B.C. and there isn't a whole lot of interest in them around here. I did find a local dealer for Argo. Bit pricy for the couple of used machines I have seen though. In the spring I think I'll make a trip out to Alberta and pick one up out there. The prices seem a little more reasonable, along with the availability.

There are four argo machines for sale as we speak in the Prince George Bargain Finder. Oct.20-26,2005 vol.10issue20. I know what you mean with prices. There doesn't seem to be much for Max around here I live in Prince RupertB.C. I guess these guys are trying to sell for Moose season.Also some one has an Attex 1973-for $2500.And one terra-jet$1500.I have not seen any of these yet.Might be of some help to check out.

restoring that buggy would shurly have wasted plenty of that.
im prity shur the inards wernt worth the trouble to restor it.

I found a '69-'70 Bazooo in excellent condition at the house my parents bought, in almost mint condition, just washed it up. the paint was in great condition, but all the tires were weathered and cracked. currently i am in the process of replacing the tires with upgraded 8" trailer rims and hubs. the engine runs good but vibrates like a son of a-. has anyone else remedied this problem? or what would be an excellent upgrade engine to fit this beast? Because i would also like to add electric start. any insight into this would be appreciated.

oh also i need new plugs for the rear of the body, both are missing thus cancelling out its boatness...
