Rick,

Describe your Hustler a little better. Jet pump? 340 or 440? Electric start with recoil back up? Can you post a picture?

Hi,
I am looking at buying a Hustler. Don't know the year. The motor is out and apart. The rest of it is together with no rust. Other than being full of sticks and tree stuff, it looks compete. I haven't seen the motor, but the guy says it's an opposing twin Briggs. I was going to offer him $600.00 for it. Is this too little? I can't find anything on an opposing twin Briggs when I look for parts. What would be a good motor to replace it with?
Thanks,
Keith

most likely on your fraim near the trany pumpkin theres a tag that says magna american model #0079 might be a mobility unlimited inc model# 0080, or 0081, or 0082
you might need a lil more presure on your cluch packs for ware n tear, each side of trany has inside outside and center plungers,(3 each) the center plungers are forward actuaters, they adjust tighte by counter clockwise and looser by clockwise turns,
factory set up is by disconecting linkage and pushing in the center actuater fuly and mesuring it as 5/8" from housing to inside the roll pin.
but with ware it may mesure les just turn it counter clockwise till it is 5/8" from trans housing to roll pin bore, (too much and the rod in the plunger falls out of plunger inside the trany and you will be takeing it apart to put the rod back in the plunger.)
if you need to tear it down befor you put it back together you should add spacers on the cluchpack to build it up to 17mm thickness with a realy big washer.
you get reverse by holding laterals half way fwd at same time giveing gas and pushing down on loop with feet,
it left the factory not stearable in revers but if you cut the loop in half you can actevate one side or the other as nesesary to stear!
just cut loop and brace down the middle.
if you don't like the result it can be re-welded.
and lastly if you have any dings in the body i have the plastic repair kits for the old style ABS bodies.
