I am going to replace my oil drain plug on my briggs Vanguard (18 horse power) with a petcock style valve. Since I want to do this all as one process (ie. pull plug, change oil, replace with new plug) I would like to know if anyone can tell me the size and thread pattern of the drain plug. That way I can purchase the correct size and do this in one operation. Is it pipe thread and is it 1/2 inch, 7/16, etc...???? Thanks all.

Hi David,

thanks, I did search the archives and could not find the information that I needed. I don't want to order it as I can go to the parts store and pick it up and change the plug today...rather than wait for the parts to arrive. I just need to know what size and thread pattern are on the drain plug so I can purchase the correct replacement.

thanks again for your response.

newmax,
drill it and then use an easy out to remove it. Most hardware stores with tools sell easy outs. good luck.
