Hi guys
Just a sugestion
I bought a portable winch that runs off a chain
saw engine.Cabelas sells them and I would guess
that other good sporting goods stores would carry
them to.The advantage I found to these is although
this winch isn't any good to run a plough it's
very good for the bush.I've used mine to pull
moose to my argo when it was impossible toget my
machine to the moose.Argo sell the ring that bolts
to the front of machine to hook winch to.Because
of the winch being portable you can carry it to
what ever has to be pulled out,hook it to a tree
or what ever and be able to pull it up to 100 feet.This seemed to work the best for me and has paid for it self many many times.I hope this information might help you guys

I tried several times to find out how to mount a winch to my Max II. I finally gave-up because I did not like the idea of mounting it solely to the plastic. So what I have come-up with is this. The front is a standard homemade plate mount, but on the inside I took some rebar and formed a loop that fits down the side and loops arond the backseat (out of sight) this rebar is attached to the back of the plate by two very laarge ubolts. It works fine!!!! |

I have a 2500lb superwinch on my max 2.
I fabricated an inside & outside 1/8" steel plate
& bolted the 2 parts together thru the front of
the hull. There are 6 3/8th" bolts that hold it
together. I have tested it by securing the
cable around a massive tree limb & have pulled
the max up to the point of nearly leaving the
ground. Everything works & I couldn't be
happier with my creation...now if only I could
somehow manage to get stuck to use it again.
Keep on 6 wheelin.

Am considering mounting a T1500 superwinch to the front of my MaxII.Have a friend (welder)whom will help fabricate plates etc.Was wondering if mounting on bottom of black tub area,front,would be suitable for stress.Rather than on the top front area,as I already have lights there.Also the amounts of amp drawn while winching is suitable for the Max's electrical set up?Where in the heck can I find a cover for the darn thing?

Jerry, go ahead and spend some extra money and get at least the Warn 2000. If you really get stuck or try to pull someone else out, the T1500 will not be able to handle it. I was really disappointed in its performance. The best winch for the money is the Warn 2500. At Deepwater I saw it drag a Conquest with three men in it out of some really deep muck. The Conquest was in neutral and not helping the winch at all!

Jerry, The B & S engine puts out 16 amps.The black tub will support as well as up above, but I would think it is a bad place to put a winch. It will be in the water, mud, etc. all the time and will hang up on ditch banks, logs, etc. - I would move the lights.
You can get a cover for your Max from RI, any dealer or have one custom made at an upholster shop. |

Important Note:
If you get stuck real bad, be sure to put the cable a few feet up on the tree. If you put it low, you drag a ton of muck and mud with you. Sometimes causing the winch to stall. You also need to rev the motor. The battery does not have enough output to give the winch it's potential. |
