hi i own an argo 8x8 but i am thinking of purchasing a max ll but i want an older one..i also want to gut the motor unless its a 448...and put in a beefey hp monster with enough power to let me do wheelies...i dont need krazy speed maby 40 mph i just want power to make do do wheelies and spray roosts....i can sped maby 3000 cnd on a chassie...and i can spend more on the motor...please i really need your help any ideas u may have pleas epost em

Scott, I would advise an after May 1995 model. They have the bigger bearings and disk style holding brake. It takes a 99 or later Max II to get the inner bearings. Be sure to get a machine with the 50 roller chains (some of the oldest models had 40 chain). I'd also recommend getting solid axles or making your own.

There have been a lot of improvements in the Max line since middle 1995. Earlier machines were the best they could be at the time, but the changes have been for the better. Good luck in your search. I might add that the max is a finesse machine and if you are going to make it a power machine and ram and jamb it, you will need to keep your tool box handy. What you should do with your stated desires is to buy a 1999 or later max II and replace the engine with whatever you want.

good choice scott, any 6x6 with a all wheel drive is a good base to start. david #3, RC and pete c. have some hairy 6x6's you might want to consider. as you probably know argo's are good for farmer's and tea sippers!

Then their is alot of farmers, like myself and teasippers out their. Their are several people at humphrey that i have ment that USED to have a newer max untill they test drove a bigfoot. 5 people to be exsact. one guy with a max 4 and a family of four bought a max instead of an argo and said it was the biggest mistake of his life. bouncing up and down in the front of that thing with four people in it while your arms and back is contourted steering with levers that are not centered or ergonomically friendly was his biggest complaint.

glad to see that after 30 years of production RI finally figured out that inner bearings are more durable and reliable that ungreasable bushings. When are they going to figure out about sealed bearings and sealed bearing flanges on the outside, 2030? good advice on having a tool box on hand with a max, best youve given.

do you have any ideas where i can look for an earlier 6x6??

also should i use a snomoblie engine??i wnat somthing with lots of torque..
