Just recently i bored out my l295 clyender and put a l297 piston in it. What changes to the engine needs to be made to make it run better? Exhaust? Carborator? Ignition? thanks for the help.

SCott,

JLO manual uses a different plug for a 297.

Bosch M225T1 or Champion UK10 0.018" gap

This seems to be the only difference Carb & timing are the same. You might have to rejet the carb tho.

Run the engine with the correct plug. DRive it around & see how it performs. Pull, the plug & read it. Is it fouling, running rich or lean. Did the engine have power thru it's whole operating range. DEpedning upon the make of carb you can pull the jet & get a bigger or smaller one. Find a snowmobile manual or a manual for your of carb. Find the size of jet that is in there & experiment from there. Since the size difference from a 295 to 297 is only 1.007 % then you might have to size the jet up at last that much

hey is that 1.007 cm or mm also can anyone tell me what a Bosch M225t1 sparkplug converts to a 13/16ths size What i did was put an insert in the head so that i wouldnt wear out the alluminum threads and also cause i coulndt find the regular size anymore

also is it possible that i can drill out the hole in the jet or can i just buy one that will work?

1.007% so your jet size should be at least 1.007% bigger. Depending upon the carb you should be able to buy new jets. If not drill it out.

Bosch or Champion should have conversion charts on the net
