Just purchased a 1985 Super Chief 500 in mint condition. It has a factory roll bar and I want to install seatbelts before I head to the Pismo sand dunes. I'm new to 6x6 world, so would greatly appreciate any tips as to brand/type of belts and suggestions/hints for installation from anyone who has done this. Thanks.
Jim

Jim, can you take some pictures and measurements of your rollbar for me? How does it attach to the body? I have a Thunderchief that I would like to make a rollbar for so I can also install seatbelts.
I would head to the local junk yard and pull the seatbelts out the back seats of a four door car or station wagon. These belts were hardly ever used and they are just strictly lap belts. I would install 3 belts on the seat, not necessarily for 3 people but will keep you secure in different riding arrangements. I sit in the middle when by myself and on the left side when riding with a passenger

Jim, I would give recreatives a call (they make the Max) I bought my belts from them and they work great. I also have seen the belts roger and bonnie bought from auto zone. they work great too.
hope this helps. Matt

Thanks for the suggestions. As for pics and specs on roll bar, I would be happy to do but it may be a while. I am swamped at work right now.
Thanks again.

Jim, I have a 1982 Attex SuperChief with a bench seat. I went to the local auto junk yard and pulled out a lap belt from an old Buick. I cut slits in the bench seat and bolted the belt to the frame. Works great. One question, when Attex came out with the 2-stroke engine that could go up to 40 mph, how did they expect anyone to stay in the darn thing without belts?
