Hi
I have a Hillcat 775 made by Scottrack, I have a problem with the low gear which seems to jump out when driving up any incline. The gearbox is the exact same as the one used in an argo. I had thought of fabricating something that can be flipped up that will prevent the gear lever from slipping out. Has anyone came across this problem before and how did they solve it.

The machine is fitted with a 20Hp Honda twin engine, starts and runs fine, to me it is a bit under powered, especially as I fitted bear claw 22x 12 4 ply tyres to it. I was told by the fitter that these were too wide for the machine as the standard Runamuck tyres were only 10" wide. I have to say the machine is a bit harder when turning but not too bad, it will literally climb up some steep slopes with 2 passengers. My ? is if I were to fit a bigger Hp engine. I am moving up from a 1" shaft to a 1- 1/8" shaft. how hard is it to get a the same clutch system to fit this bigger shaft.
This is my first post. once I suss out how to post pictures I will post some pics of the machine in action.

Look forward to some constructive input.

Cheers
Ian

Ian

Can you use ARGO parts inside that trans?
I think your tires are the problem, these machines
need the chevron pattern so they will turn.

I would like to see the photos

Richardsrelics.com has the bigger clutch

Hi Jeff

The trans is an argo transmission.

I would disagree with the tires being the problem, it is actually driving and steering good with the tires, apart from that the problem was there before the tires were put on the machine.

The picture shows the machine as we bought it. I take it the Runamucks on the back and Maxiss sur traks on the front was to help with the steering.

At the very top of the cab roof you can see a little bloc of trees the machine side of the main big forest bloc. The machine will drive up the side of that little bloc (carrying 2 adults weighing just under 30 stones), take an angle behind the trees and carry on right up the hill which goes for roughly just under the same distance again. It is very impressive where it can go with the tires that are fitted, I would bet money that the Runamucks would struggle to get up past the first trees.

I have taken some video of the machine in action, I will have to figure out how to download to youtube, would be good to share it with any members that are interested.

Picture is taken on the farm where I live.

Hi
I added a small video of the Hillcat coming down a steep hill on the farm. If you search youtube for Hilcat775, I made a typo error I forgot to add two L's to Hillcat, this has been amended in the editing facility. So 6 or so hours after this post you should be searching for Hillcat775.

Will try and some more video as I take them.
