I Need help with this one. I have a 2008 Avenger EFI and it has a no start switch where it wont start unless its in neutral, Well I have to wiggle and wiggle for sometimes 5 minutes or more before the machine recognizes it is truly in netrual. Before I start tearing this apart, how is this thing wired and what it the 1st place I should look for any short etc....

Best I can relate is that the switches are much the same as those safety switches on riding lawnmowers, has to be in neutral, driver on seat, blade not engaged, etc. Yours is like an automatic car, park or neutral. I don't have it on mine, it's older, but would suspect the switch is located on top of the transmission, just under the gear select lever, a simple push button switch. The only thing I don't know if it's a "normally open" or normally closed" switch. Unplug it at its source and see if it starts. Sometimes all that's needed is a little tweeking, get it to sit in the right spot. Good luck and let us know. |

Argo built the wires in such a manner that you can by-pass the switch. I'm not ion fron of one now but follow the wires from the switch up to the main wire harness and you'll see where to un-plug and re-plug. |
