I need info on how to change the belt on an Action Age Scrambler model 1000.
When I got a hold of this 6X6, it had two extra worn belts wired as spares in the transmission.
Now that I have blown a belt, and I have started looking at how to get it on, I now really realize what a bugger it is going to be to get it on.
Do I have to pull the whole clutch/brake Assy? to get a belt on? That is a job!
Also, does anyone know the proper belt type/size? |

Hey, John;
I'm pretty sure the belt was a 6013. Gates and NAPA use the same number, if I remember right. Changing the belt can be a job- that's why most people buy two and install the spare over the transmission shaft ahead of time. |

Pulling and disassembling the entire clutch/brake assembly looks like a big job.
Any tricks or shortcuts you know of? |

I have been restoring a 1977 scrambler 6,like many others I have found no info out there,I can write a manual for this model because I stripped it down to the last pin and put it back together again. If you look at the drive system you'll note that the axle drive is bolted down to to engine mounting frame by 4 3/8ths bolts, loosen and remove the left side drive chains take the engine drive chain off only unhook the steering cylinders move them out of the way unscrew the self locking nut off the threaded steering rod note there's about 1/2 inch rod exposed remove the tension nut that is in the 1 inch tube remove the pin that's in the steering disc pull the rod out unscrew the 4 3/8ths bolts lift the left side of the assembly up and pass the old belt out reverse to reassemble with the new belt. when you put it back together remember that when you adjust the steering arm make sure you bottom out the tension nut and allow 3/8 of thread at the end of the rod that centers it in the cylinder.
