I just tested my new avenger for the first time. a short run in the driveway. i had just finished installing the full top. I am a former max 4 owner so am not new to aatv's. I did notice that it was extreamly loud inside the cabin. anyone else have the full top, and has anyone else ever tried to sound proof their avenger.

Engine or tranny noise? The avenger tranny is quite quiet so the engine sounds more in the cabin. On a conquest, the tranny noise overpowered all others.

Hi Mike-My brake fan starts running when I turn the key on. It is loud, so loud that you cannot listen to hear the fuel pump come up to pressure,It also blows cold air. It is certainly not needed until the trans. is put into gear. My experience in cooler weather is that the brake cooling fan is not needed in most cases on days when it is so cold that you have the windows closed. You could consider putting a switch on the brake cooling fan and see if that helps to reduce the noise. I like to be able to hear the bilge pump or the fuel pump.=== Question: does your machine have chain tension adjusters on the chains that run foreward from the jackshaft to the front axles??

I hear the brake fan but thats not it. as soon as i get to about 8 MPH or hight it whines. I put some dynomat on the fire wall and its better, but still pretty loud. I was thinking maybe it needs to be boken in. because after I went a couple of hours it sounded a little better. totla of 3 hrs on machine. Also after a while I would hear a little squeeling sound. when I was at ide it would come and go, just for a short time.

Mike- Page 33,section 7 of my Avenger operators manual says that the chains require 2 1/2" of slack before the tensioners can progress to the next step. Just now at over 60 hrs. the two tensioners at the rear of my Avenger have come into play. The center two under the gas tank are still not doing anything. As these tensioners come into play I think the machine gets quieter. Do you think it's in my head?

Mike- I am embarassed to admit that I don't know the answer to your question. I know that my Max IV with the 25 hp. air cooled Kohler and 26" Terra Grips has a slightly higher top end, whatever that means. I will check my Argo tommorrow and see if there is a number plate on the tranny.
