I replaced the chains (back 3 sets) on my Conquista early last year, and they have now stretched to the point (after about 60 hours)the chain adjusters are max'd out. This was USTubaki chain. Someone suggested that I take out a link and put in a half link. Suggestions ?

It's probally the sprockets are wore. You can use halflinks simple cut one link out and add the halflink.
If you have 60 chain I have used princess auto chain on the back 4 axles the chain goes on sale for 19.99 for 10 feet or 28.99 regular price;but make sure it is the 60H chain which has extra thick and heavy side plates and this will buy you some time before sprocket replacement is neccessary at 50.00 each.
OH-Don't use there connecting link locking clip as it is too flimsy and comes off easy.
HOPE THIS HELPS!

Make sure you replace the nylon slippers on the slack adjusters 5.00 each.
You can use the front 50/2 chain old slippers on the back 60 and vice versa cause they wear in different spots on the nylon.
If your machine has the 60 chain on the back 4 axles.

1000 Hours,

The reason I asked about the half link was I have heard somewhere (it may have been on this board) that we should not take a link out because the pitch would be changed, wearing out the sprockets prematurely. Perhaps taking out a link and adding a half link does not cause much of a problem ?

I have 50 chain currently. The chains were so loose, the springs on the chain tensioners came off of the back 3 axles. I have ordered the springs, and I think I have enough spare pads.

Butch

We never remove links from worn out chain as the distance between pins does increase therefore, this worn chain does wear out expensive sprockets. An exception is slightly worn chain, say when you installed new chain, the chain was almost at limits of the adjusters, then with very little time, this new chain will stretch some requiring
a link to be removed. If you only have 60 hours on good chain, then I feel you fall into this condition.

Bottom line is we feel one can remove a link on slightly used good quality chain, but never remove a link on worn out chain.
