I have a 1980 8x8 and have been looking where to mount the winch. In a few pictures I have seen it is just in front of the hood, there does not appear to be anything there to mount to except the plastic. Does anyone know if this is where it is mounted or is there a way to tie it in with the frame? There does not seem to be enough room to run any type of mount past the motor to the frame? Would a plate under the front be enough to support a winch mount point?

There is a winch hoop that you need,it will tie both halves of the body together and will also tie into the frame.Just a plate will NOT be enough. You can always look for a used one,but may have to get one from a dealer.
