I have an 05 Avenger and it is constantly chewing up the teflon chain adjuster pads. Is that common on this automatic adjusting system? It chews up a pad about every 8 hours. I live just outside of Yellowstone Park and I take it in the back country a lot. I am worried one of these days it will leave me stranded. The last time it chewed up a pad I didn't have an extra with me so I had to drive it home with the chain running against metal. If this happeneds again would it hurt to just take the pad and adjuster off and run it in that way? Is there a better chain adjuster to use? I have been thinking about making my own mechanical adjuster but I thought maybe someone else may have had this same problem and could tell me what they did to correct theirs. I don't have much trouble in the summer when I am running without the tracks but as soon as I put the Maxy tracks on I start having problems. Could it be that the wide track is to much track for my machine? Any help or Ideas would be appreciated! |

Richard, Contact your Argo dealer and get the new adjusters. The ratchet mech has been redesigned (don't know what date that started) to prevent the problem you are having.
When running tracks, you should remove at least the back two chains (or even all four rear chains). This will prevent binding. Do you run the factory rubber track? At least one of these two things should have you back on the trail. |

Thanks Brandon, I will order in the new adjusters. I noticed on the new machines that the adjusters are different. I remember last year someone told me to remove the rear four chains and I had problems climbing hills. I will try and remove just the rear two and see how that works. I am running the factory rubber track. |

What about running a 96 Conquest? Should any chains be removed when using rubber tracks on this model? |
