I've looked hi & lo, no luck with the search. Does anyone have a particular name or brand of low pressure fuel pump to replace the miserable vacuum model that's on the B&S motors. Is an overflow required to be routed back to the tank or will the float needle limit it sufficiently to prevent flooding. Thanks.

Electric pumps have safety issues and plastic bodied 6 wheelers don't last long in a fire. The Briggs Vanguard has a pressurized lube system so if you do install the el fuel pump, switch it through a lube oil pressure switch. Yes you can loop the fuel line back to the tank to reduce the pressure to the carb. You may have to install a restriction in the line someplace going back to the tank to adjust the pressure.
Find the smallest pump with the lowest flow. An 18 hp briggs will only use about 2 gal/ hr at wide open throttle.

You can get a B&S electric fuel pump for their engines. I installed it on a Bigfoot and it works very well. We wired it in with the fan switch, however it won't pump until demand draws fuel from it. We've had no issues with it provided you install it well. We used rubber mounting brackets to provide some shock proofing.

I'll have to check next time I'm at the cottage on the part number. It cost around $60 for the pump itself and as I said it works great. I suggest you find a local lawnmower guy who sells Biggs and Stratten as they can look it up. I won't have any info until mid Jan.
