I mentioned to my mechanic the other day I was considering ARGO with Kawasaki engine. While he had not had any experience with the ARGO, he said that that engine in the Mule was a constant source of mechanical work for him. Anybody had that experience??

John I just sold my Argo Conquest with the Kawasaki engine with 920 hours on it and I never had to touch the engine or had any problems with it; just changed the oil,filter and plugs every 50 hours.But be aware Argo has dropped the Conquest model from it's line-up; what this means about parts for the engine I don't know but you may have to go right to Kawasaki.My opinion is spend the extra money and buy an AVENGER I did and never looked back WOW what a machine.

Well, I am looking at that also as an option. I have been told the Avenger will have a 6x6 with aircooled B&S engine in a month but am also thinking about the 8x8. Can you summarize your experience as to engine, engine power, turning radius, in the water, taller off ground so center of gravity is it an issue???

John- The new 6x6 is called FRONTIER it has 24" Carlisle tire that look like the runamuk tread pattern so you can still use plastic tracks over them they are just taller for more clearence.I really don't have enough hours on my AVENGER to say but in my opinion it feels like your driving a different machine not an Argo.

That tire sounds interesting, if it's actual size is 23.5 or so, it'd fit the response and conquest. Is it on 8 or 9" wheels?

Roger-its on 8" rim and is the same width as the runamuk the tire acually says Argo right on it.I think it would fit okay on the older machines though the FRONTIER has wider axle spacing more like bigfoot.

Ontario Drive & Gear Ltd. (ODG), a leading Canadian-based manufacturer of all-terrain amphibious vehicles, has added two new ATVs to its lineup.

The all-wheel-drive Argo Frontier 6x6 is equipped with a 627cc, four-cycle, overhead-valve, V-twin, air-cooled, 23-hp Briggs & Stratton engine, carries up to four passengers, has a load capacity of 700 pounds and a tow capacity of 1400 pounds. Its ergonomically designed dashboard includes a one-piece handlebar steering system, cup holders, a 12V outlet, two dash-mounted grab handles and gauges. Stopping power is provided by hydraulic disc brakes and the vehicle has a 20/50-amp charging system and a state-of-the-art continuously variable transmission (CVT) with high and low range, neutral and reverse. The battery is located under the hinged bench seat with a deep storage compartment / toolbox.

The Frontier’s upper body and hood design features dual hood latches for added security and a low step-over designed for ease of entry / exit. The seating has extra padding and legroom. The Frontier’s lower body has enough room for tracks to fit over the standard tires. The custom design 24-inch Carlisle tires provide nine inches of ground clearance and sport a special ARGO tread designed for performance on both land and water and are mounted on small (eight-inch-diameter) rims designed to provide a smooth ride even through rough terrain.

The Argo Avenger 8x8 EFI, which has been ODG’s best seller since its introduction in 2004, is equipped with a 31-hp, electronic fuel-injected Kohler LH 775 engine. Its low emission rate meets both EPA and CARB standards. ODG says that it has improved throttle response for smooth acceleration, improved fuel economy, excellent cold weather starting and automatic adjustment to high altitudes, and the fuel delivery system has been designed to manage itself without a manual choke control. An on-board diagnostic system has been added for ease of maintenance.

The 8x8 Argo features 25-inch Rawhide III tires with an aggressive tread pattern and lug size, and its approach and departure angles were designed for easy travel over difficult obstacles. The Avenger EFI is available with an optional 3.3 high-ratio transmission for optimum performance with rubber tracks. It seats up to six persons on land, has a load capacity of 1150 pounds and can tow 1800 pounds.

The 6x6 Frontier and the 8x8 Avenger EFI will be available in tundra, blue, yellow, red, black and Mossy Oak Shadow Branch Camo.

The new Frontier looks great. I was told not to give out that info yet so I'm glad you guys got the ball rolling. It's great to see a completely new 6x6 available after 40 years. I am a little worried/disappointed with the tires. I've been saying for years that Max and Argo need to custom design their tires. It looks like Argo finally did it, but they might not be aggressive enough to take the vehicle through the toughest mud and swamp. I will wait to see them in person and test drive it before I decide. They do look good for a smooth ride and water speed. I hope they are a true 24" tall, as even the 25" Bigfoot tire is only 24" (The 25" Avenger tire is a true 25"). Everything else looks well done. The lower body is improved like the Avenger for better approach / departure angles. The two hood latches have been needed for a long time. Hopefully the floorboards are also a nicer fit than the previous Argo models. I should have one within two weeks - can't wait!

Well, that 23 hp engine sounds better than the 18 hp I had last heard. 24" vs 25" tires, who knows, I get along okay now with the 22.5" runnamucks, actually found them more useful than the rawhide version. I wasn't sure what the new body style was on the Frontier, didn't find anything on Argo website. I was told that the rear jump area would be slightly lengthened for true 4 person utility, that the approach angle for the body nose would resemble the Avenger which would be a big improvement over my Van II which often as not "sticks" in any small crevace and won't let me get across???
