2003 MaxII, 18HP Briggs.

I drained and refilled the transmission last weekend, adding 4 ounces of the limited slip additive. While I had the tub open I went ahead and put some belt dressing on the drive belt.

Now I have a brief intermittent squeak/squeal that sort of sounds like a slipping belt. It only happens when the engine is under load (like going up a steep hill), and only on low throttle. If I get into the throttle the squeal goes away.

It runs fine and without any noise on flat surfaces at any speed.

I can't replicate it with the tub open to see if it is the belt, as it has to be underway with a load. The belt has about 1 1/2 inch or less play in it, so it appears to be properly tightened.

Any ideas? This sounds like the drive belt, but could it be the tranny?

Thanks,

Bud

Its the belt dressing causing the squeak. Just keep on riding it and it will go away.

I'll second liflod, sometimes belt dressing can cause lots of noise for a short time.
