I am new to aatving.I saw one on ebay and decided I had to have a 6 wheeler. I was wondering what kind to get. I do alot of trail riding.So a skinnier one would be better.I also do alot of hill climbing.I dont need reverse but it would come in handy.Basicly I need one that will go where the 4 wheelers go. I would like to buy a used one from someone for under $1,000. I live in Ohio but can travel.Thanks for all your help, Robbie. |

Hello Robbie:
Welcome to the board and the world of aatv. If you are going to buy a used aatv, my advise to you would be, get a max or an argo. These two machines are still being produce today and Mr. Clark has 90 to 100% of the parts for these makes. Not to piss off other make owners on here, just check the board for advise on other machines. Attex and Huslers are many and are easy to repair. GOOD LUCK IN YOUR QUEST. |

I am thinking about a max II. From what ive heard they are good on the trails. What scares me about the argo is the open diff. Where I go I need all wheels spinning all the time.What should I know about Maxs. Thanks Robbie |

Hey Robbie:
The MaxII is a good machine. I have one in which I am restoring now, I will be somewhat baised. Every aatv has it's good points and bad ones as well. Listening to Argo owners ,they love their machines and would not trade them for anything. Max owners wiil say the same thing. My advise to you is if you can test drive both vehicles and see which one you like the best. If not, then try to go an event to meet other owners to learn more up front. If you are on a budget like I am , whatever machine you buy will have some headaches that goes with them. |

The real problem with me is that I am only 15. So I cant test drive anything and I cant drive to any meetings. I have a little while to decide though because I cant get a job until November of this year.So while Im saving up money I'll be watching this board to help decide. Thanks for your Derek. Robbie |

Robbie,
I just switched from a Yamaha Blaster to a Max II for woods riding in Central Florida. The downside is the width. The Max II is much wider and so needs a pretty big hole to go through. Although, the Max turns so much better with its small turning radius that it will go through a much smaller hole in the trees in a turn! The Max barely makes a tire print in mud the Blaster sinks to the rear axle in. Although twice the price of a Blaster, I feel the Max is well worth the extra money. I looked at both the Max II and Argo Bigfoot side-by-side and didn't feel the Bigfoot was worth the extra 50% in price. Also note, I got the Max 500t with the 16 hp engine and find it to be very capable for woods riding. Any more torque would just make it less effective in the loose mud, considering my tendancy to give it more gas whenever in doubt . |
