I have been looking for an aatv for a while now. I am looking for a cheap machine(project, basket case...). I plan on using it for hunting and reverse would come in very handy. What should I look for and what should I stay away from? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Rh44mag,suggest buying new or near new.How much time do you want to use of your valuable time of hunting? The last thing you want is to go in deep and break down and being new to you try to get towed out or fix it getting oil and gasoline on your hunting clothes.Yeah aatv's are the best for ice fishing & hunting.Low bucks?Got a good freind or hunting partner chip in and both use it,somtimes the relationship will be trying but keep level heads and remember none of you could have done it without the other. What kind to buy, well if just for hunting down mild trails anything will do and you'll still stay dry and carry stuff. The more machine you buy the more it will do.Just like pick -up trucks. Now just sit back and wait for all the replies to your post start streaming in, good luck on your decision

I understand the theory on new or near new, but by trade I am and auto mechanic. I like the thought of piecing something back together as much as I like the thought of using it. I would like to find an 8 wheeler but in you area any aatv is pretty scarce. Thanks for the advice.

Hey Dennis, I get the same thing here. I'm from Southern Illinois and everyone thinks Chicago. I have to explain I am geographically South of Louisville, KY and closer to Memphis, TN than Chicago.

I would also recommend a mav IV with a 4 stroke or
an Argo 8x8 with 4 stroke. I recommend these because you want to use it for hunting.
