Hi everyone My first post here looks like a very nice site. Glad I found it. Now if you can lend me your ears (I mean eyes) for a sec I have a prob that I cant put a handle on. I bought a complete 6 wheeler at a auction for $140.00 It has
a 8hp kohler k181s cast iron motor mounted in the rear has a bench seat that folds up towards the left has 2 center sticks and a transmission stick by the floor. on dash it has from left to right either a choke or throttle push pull knob the ignition and on the right a light switch push pull knobI'm guessing its a 1960 something maybe older single headlight kinda looks like a jigger from the front. but havent seen any pics that look like mine exactly My question is about not getting spark. there is a cover with a button on it that covers the points and when I crank it over I get no spark however if I push the button in and out quickly as the motor is turning it will give me spark to the plug but only when I push in and out quickly on the button. Any help is apreciated as Im clueless. Points were gapped
.20 as indicated in my small eng manual for that motor then bought new set points and didnt help still no spark except when I mess with that button on the points cover. checked timing and its
lined up correctly If you know what type of machine I have Id appreciate it and if you can help me figure what prob is even better. I have not pulled of flywheel yet cause that button has me baffled I thought it might be an old syle kill switch built into the motor but I do not know.
sorry so long a post. hope you guys can help me.

Mike
Id like to see a picture of your machine. It sounds amazingly like an old Jigger I rebuilt back in the early 80’s. I put an 8hp Kholer out of an old PANZER lawn tractor in it along with a tranny out of some old riding mower. I redid a number of other things as well but it was a long time ago and my memory fades. Is it in NYS by any chance?
Tim
