I'm going off of memory here:

Inner and outer bearings (2 per wheel) = 12.

Jackshaft = 1

Paul, I,m curious as to why you ask about both a Max 11 and a Max IV. I thought you owned a Max IV. A MAX IV is the only modern machine that does not have a JACKSHAFT. The t-20 tranny drives the rear axle directly. Therefore no Jackshaft=2 fewer chains and no grease nipple on a jackshaft that isn.t there. Maybe you should register more fully so we would know what kind of machine you have and what State or Province you hale from. W. Philip Cox

Philip,I have always in the past asked about the max2. I have a 2003 max2 with a 23hp kohler engine maybe thats why you thought I had a IV because of the engine size. I thought I would ask about both just in case anyone else was wondering about there machine. I live just south of Chicago IL.

Thanks for straightening me out Paul, at my age I can probably blame creeping senility. My Max IV had just 12 grease nipples (2 on each axle and like I said no Jackshaft. At this moment in time I have replaced the second one of my rear axles because the sprocket moved inward on the axle and in this case broke the chain. The newly designed CIRCLIP splined axle is the best axle design in an aatv in my opinion. When I get it back together I will have 2 more grease nipples because Recreatives put a nipple on the double sprocket where the allen head set screw used to be. They hope that by greasing this nipple the owner can cushion the shock loads on the spline further increasing longetivity. Note that a brand new MAX iv will have an additional 4 grease nipples on the two front and center axles. also don,t forget to drop a little oil down the hole in the grip on the lateral. Happy riding. philip i driled 1/8" holes in frount and back of my laterels at the bottom to alow any rain water out that might have gotten into the holes in the grips.
this not only fights rusting out at the base but also helps prevent bursting due to frezeing ice in the winter.
a lil oil dont hurt even with the drilled holes, every few months i poke a wire threw the holes jus to be shure there not blocked up.

That is an excellent tip David ,even for those of us who almost always wear a roof, because as I recently demonstrated there is more than one way to get water inside of your Max. Happy riding W. Philip
