When is the last time you checked your wheel nuts? I should have before going out today. I was out on the lake in my conquest with my 14yo grandson driving, having a ball, right? Well the track hit the bottom of the hull twice. We stopped and everything looked alright. We went a little further and all of the sudden I wheel was off (left front) and the track on that side was half off. The wheel nuts were gone. Well I got the track the rest of the way off and we limped back to the cottage (about 2 miles) on one track on one side and three wheels on the other. To the Argo's credit, it didn't handle too badly. So far the damage seems to limited to stripped threads on the studs. I was going to take the tracks off this week anyway and put on my Rawhide III's. I'm half done! I've learned a good lesson. At one point we were about 15 miles into the bush. |

I check mine before every trip, when I check the tire pressure. But thanks for the heads up, glad you made it back ok, with minuml damage. |

Ditto, I check my tire presure and lug nuts with the torque wrench before I go out. Generally find one that needs some tighting. Always makes me wonder about my car, but I never check them! |
