Is it possable to repalce the vale stems in the older 3 hole floatation type tires? |

well i have done it 2 or 3 times but sometimes it wasent sucsessful,
i used a grinder to reshape the bulb end into a cone, i left enoph of the diamiter to hold it inside but enoph to alow me to twist n push it in threw the hole, lubed it with rubber cement just because i thought it was a good idea and i got them in, but it was gruleing,
only to have some pop out.
i guess practice makes perfict.

I've had good luck replacing them without modifying the stem. You always end up with a piece of the old one rolling around the inside of the tire, but other than that, it works fine. Cut the old stem off close to the tire and push the remaining piece into the tire, then clean up the hole with some emery paper. Spray the hole in the rim and the new stem with soapy water and use an old, dull flat-sided screwdriver the work the stem into the hole. A newer screwdriver tends to cut the new stem. If you start at the back and work your way to the front it's easier. After you've done a few it's not too tough at all.

Thanks for the feed back. I wanted to get some idea if this was possable before I remove the old stem. If someone else has done it, then I can too!!!
