I just purchased a 1999 Conquest 8x8 that has 198 hours on it, the unit has been very well taken care of and is in great shape. Someone stole the winch that came with the Argo. There is a switch on the dash and all the mounting hardware and cables are in place. What kind of winch would just drop in and be able to be hooked up? Any other advice to a rookie on the Conquest would also be appreciated

Most all winches hook up the same so if you have the two wires sticking out from under the hood you are good to go to put most any winch on it. The bracket is setup to receive a supewinch mounting with two holes in the center but you can modify it to accept any winch. Don't go any smaller then a 3000 or 3500 pound unit. We just installed a new Ramsey UTV 5000 pound. I would only go this big if a winch was in the working scheme of your ARGO it would not be a good deal if water operation was a priority, it is a bit heavier then the 3500. Hook it up run your switch and if it goes the wrong way then switch the wires on the winch around.

Argo uses the 3000 Superwinch which I personally don't like. We offer the Ramsey winch which is really good quality. Max offers the 2500 Warn which is equally as good. I would agree with Bob to go for the 3000+ winch for an 8x8. I have seen the 2500 Warn on the Conquest 8x8 and it did an awesome job, so 3000 would just be good insurance. Getting one with a wireless remote is also really handy.
