The Fox is usually a good reliable vehicle for someone wanting a tough old machine at a low price. Trade a Max II for it? Never. The Max is a much quicker, more agile machine to drive. The Fox is a rough, clumsy, under powered vehicle. It has 26" tires which are great, but the standard 16hp Tecumseh is barely half the power that vehicle needs. It is over a foot wider than your Max II and up to 250 pounds heavier. The Fox usually has trouble with sheering axle pins, which happens to be my single most hated 6x6 break down.
I'm not a Fox hater but comparing it to a Max is like comparing a bicycle to a Harley. If you need more people capacity or just a back seat for cargo, the best upgrade from your Max II would be to a Max IV.

I have a Super Swamp Fox and would not trade it for a Max either. The axles, body are much stronger than a Max. I have not had any trouble with sheering axle pins. The Fox is no speed demon but with gets me where I want, in water I would prefer the extra space equaly stabliity of the Fox. I have added a dial a jet to the carb and it has helped with power, but a engine upgrade would be an extra bonus. I have 2 Harleys and would trade for a Max either

This is what Brandon said about the Fox when he had one for sale.

Swamp Fox For Sale by Maximum Off-Road
Features 26" tires and T-20 tranmission like a Max. Has a 16hp Tecumseh four stroke engine with a brand new carburetor. Has a fiberglass body with a recent paint job. Body is in great shape with no holes or cracks. Front end has a minor 'dent' that has been repaired. Front seats have been reupolstered and the vehicle can seat up to five people. I have installed all new high quality Diamond drive chain throughout this vehicle. This vehicle is ready to ride and runs great. It is very quick and stable in the water (see pic of me standing on the side!)

Hey anonymous, that was a cheap shot! You need to take a little more time and sound out the words when you are reading and try to comprehend better. Brandon didn't say the Fox was junk, he just said the Max was better. By the way, where can I see a new Fox? Oh yeah, they aren't made any more; guess the market place agrees that the Max is better

Why not post under your name when you have something to say?

The ad I posted for the Fox (four months ago?) is completely true and stands by my original post. I don't see how posting that changes anything? I do, however, appreciate my fan club that loves to follow my every move and saves everything I've written.

I have a friend that still owns a Fox. He likes it and the Fox serves him well. He really wants to replace it with a Max IV but doesn't want to spend the extra money. Like my first post stated, the Fox is great for someone wanting a tough old machine at a low price. I tend to think the only thing making the Fox a good machine at all is the T-20!
