Can someone tell me the minimum shaft length and thrust I may need on an electric trolling motor?

ok we let this post soak for a couple of years so i guess ill try to give you an answer...

i use a very small trolling motor on my maxIV. with the trolling motor mounted on the front, the blade pushes water aginst the front of the tub making for a slow go when i try to go straight but when i turn and the blade clears the front of the tub it turns really quick. i guess what i am tring to say is if you want any kind of speed going forward you need a shaft that will be long enough to clear the bottom of the tub no matter what thrust motor you use.
