Im looking at an 01 Max IV 25hp that has roughly 80 hours of track use on it. The owner has never greased the wheelbearings. He said he just followed the owners manual recommendations. Funny I thought, that should be in the owners manual so I look in the back of my Max owners manual where the maintenance and lubrication guide is and sure enough there isnt any reference to greasing the wheel bearings. What do you guys think? How often? Should I be concerned about the bearings on a 2001 max IV 25 hp that has 80 hours of track use?

My Operator's Manual for my 2000 Max II has a whole chart for maintenance on page 83. 7th item on the list is bearings...lube and inspect every 30 hours or 3 months. |

I would be concerned about 80 hours without bearing maintenance. If he did not grease the bearings, then the other maintenance items were probably overlooked as well. |

Feel and see if they're loose. I'm sure it was detrimental but might not be a problem right now. |

Bill,I grease mine every hard trail ride before or after or when I put the tracks on or off.You will need a grease gun adapter for a chrysler(NAPA $8.OO) the 4 corner fittings will need that adepter ,it looks like a straight line tip but it is a 90 degree close quater,double the lenght of your hose off your gun so your not restricted when you stroke the lever.2 pumps is all you need if done on a regular intrival,don't be temted to look for grease passing the seals. |
