I just picked up a amphicat for free from a friend It has a kohler magnum 10hp in that runs good. Not real fast but I dont know how quick one is any way. It has solid axles and new bearings. My problem is I dont know what kind or how much fliud the tranny takes. It has I think the right trans in it with the loop down by my feet that I think is reverse. If any one could help thank you

the trany with the loop takes automotiv automatic trany fluid,( dextron III maybe as example)
there are two plugs a top and down 1/2 way on back,
remove both and put in fluid till it tricles out the lower plug hole, and replace the plugs,
congrats yer done,

I am new to the site and am having a ball reading all of the posts. This info takes me back to childhood when I had an Amphicat! The 4 wheelers today can't replace the fun I had with my Cat. To the point... I am looking for an Amphicat that is in restorable condition and as complete as possible. I am in Michigan, so the closer the better. I am aware of the problems involved with the Cats (I spent more time fixing mine than driving it) but that is half the fun! So anyone out there with a cat collecting dust e-mail me and let me know what you have, enclose pictures if possible.

Thanks, Mike zvacman@yahoo.com
