getting worry about many cracks on lower body of my max after "hard playing" over rocks and metal scrap that ovious affect the flotation capacity without notice i deside to built in a fiberglass jacket on the lower part of max.....after 5 square yards of fiberglass cloth and 2 gallon of fiberglass resin and 125 rivets ( because fiberglass doesnot hold strong on plastic) this job get done!!!....during another rough voyage over rocks i found that this fiberglass job max into a very rigid structure so no more back seat motion while traveling....WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT!!! not to mention that no more cracks on lowerbody!!!

Would like to know how it floats now with the extra weight...or perhaps you do not use it in deep water?
Thanks,
Ed L.

HEY ED: now max float on same capacity BUT WITH CONFIDENCE!!!...each gallon of fiberglass resin weight about 7 pounds....each yard of matt/robin cloth weight about 3 pounds...bounch of 1/4" x 1/2" aluminium rivets..half pound....total added weight......7 x 2 (14) + 3 x 4 (12) = 26 pounds

i still hits rocks and metallic object without a scratch (of course on low speed) where the abs use to just rip off leaving max amphibious feature disable without notice!!!!...it's a great improvement..about $ 50.00 material cost (incluiding black tint that was added to "fresh" resin so bottom of max still on "permanent" black gloss finish ..ofcourse that the rule's 1000 gph 1 1/8" discharge bilge pump still there!!!..photos from this process are avaliable thru e-mail on request...
