I had a simaler problem with scrambler are you shure that the gear is stripped ,there are a couple things to check, mine the bearing blocks that hold the pinion or steering shaft had split i had to shim material to run steering gear deeper into rack[the rack is on hydralic master cylander there is one on each side of steering wheel]the steering wheel does not turn like a car wheel it only moves maybe 45 or 50 degrees off center to turn.its been a while since i looked under there but i think the pinion looked like a #35 or 40 sprockets brazed to the shaft.i will e-mail you some info on scrambler, good luck and welcome to 6x6

if the clutch is relesing on the right but the wheels wont brake, you may need to shim brake[how much brake pad is on forward section thats the aluminum plate that has brake pads on it the disk will only move so far to rub on it.the clearance between pad and disk should be .032 to.090 page 39 and page 12 of owners manual.i found i think it was 1.5 external snap rings and cut off the part the snap ring pliars fit into and they work fine.you my also want to bleed the system thats also in manual
