Hey ill run my Max-IV for about 30 seconds and then I can look back and see my muffler glowing cherry red on the way to the duck hole? What is the deal am I running to lean? or is it rich? I recently cleaned the carb, jets, tank, new fuel line, and filters. My choke cable is broke so i gotta get a new one. So its hard to start and it runs once I squeeze the throttle above a certain level. I dont think i have it adjusted right, but I followed the directions in the packet RI sent me.. hrmmm Any thoughts?

You are WAAAAAAAAAAAAy lean. You need to richen it up some before it's too late.

I agree with Attex Bob. You are way too lean. I wouldn't run this engine anymore until you correct the problem. If you don't you WILL burn a hole in the piston. This would require a major engine overhaul. Do yourself a favor. Get more information how to tune this carburetor. My suggestion is call Richard Clark and ask his advice. Good luck.

greg, last week i had a twin kohler w/one header pipe red hot. traced to a bad cdi/to engine sensor, not adusting timing after warming up!
